James 1:19... Slow to speak - slow to wrath. Slow to wrath - That is, we are to govern and restrain our temper; we are not to give indulgence to excited and angry passions. Compare Proverbs 16:32, "He that is slow to anger is greater than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city."
Are people saved by faith, works, or a combination of the two? Paul says plainly in his Epistles that Salvation does not come by the works of the Law but through faith. James says that "Faith without works is dead" and "By works a man is justified, and not by faith only(James 2:24b). Many readers feel that the book of James is diametrically opposed to the rest of the New Testament. So does the Bible contradict Itself? How can this be reconciled?
