"I had a vision of my mother and me, walking around the rims of the fields and pastures picking blackberries in the summer, just as we used to." -page 29. I think that this made her flashbacks memories of her before with her mum. This picture shows the link between the two stories, Phoebe's story and Sal's story.
I picked this photo because this shows that there is really less trees in Euclid, where she moved. This photo also represents sadness and lonelyness in Sal, because in this photo, there is a lot of space, but there is only one tree. It shows how lonely Sal is in Euclid, because she is new, she has very little friends, and she has no nature around her. It is very different from where she used to live. She is slightly being supported by the moonlight, but she is still dark and lonely, and alone.
"No swimming hole, no barn, no cows, no chickens, no pigs." P10. This photo is one of the items that was incredibly important to Sal, because it was part of her old countryside home. It is also one of the "forgotten" items that her father did not bring along to their new home in Ohio.
"Half of the tiny yard was a cement patio and the other half was another patch of grass which our imaginary cow would devour in two bites. There was a tall wooden fence all around it, and to the left and right were other, identical fenced plots." page 10. "Fenced" may suggest the feeling of constriction or imprisonment, this relates to how Sal feels in the new house. The fence may also suggest two sides of a story and Sal may have to adapt to "get off the fence".
"You can't keep the birds of sadness from flying over you head, but you can keep them from nesting in your hair." -page 154. I particularly like this quote in the novel 'Walk Two Moons' because it is very meaningful and motivational.
Gramps hugged her and said “ you really like this old geyser dont you” “Yes, Oh yes I do” gramps replied. I really like this quote, it really shows the reader the love between gram and gramps, and we never seem to know the connection gram has to the geyser and neither does gramps, but he understand how much gram loves it. This really brings out the relationship between them.
I made this image my self. I used lots of different lyres to make it. This image describes Phoebe and how she thinks differently. Also this image shows that phoebe lives in her own little world. I think this is a very important aspect of Phoebe because this is the reason Phoebe has such a different personalty then other teenage girls
I added this one because I remembered when she first arrived to the city. She had wondered where all the nature and the farm animals were. This photo represents all those things she left behind.
"My middle name, Tree, comes from your basic tree, a thing of such beauty to my mother that she made it part of my name. She wanted to be more specific and use Sugar Maple Tree, her very favorite because Sugar Maple was part of her own name, but Salamanca Sugar Maple Tree Hiddle sounded a bit much." P7. This quote and the picture of the sugar maple tree further emphasises her love for nature that the word "Tree" was made part of both the mother and the daughter's name.
"Once it was settled that the three of us would go, the journey took on an alarming, expanding need to hurry that was like a walloping great thundercloud assembling around me." Page 5. This photo reminds me of when they were setting off on the trip because it said that they really wanted to go on the trip and were really excited to see where Sal's mother had went and what she had seen.
"Tiny, Squirt trees. Little Birdhouse in a row- and one of these birdhouses was ours." pg.11 I think this suggest Sal does not like the city environment. Also, I think this suggest how Sal hates Ohio's city environment.
Oops!
""Sal, kill it, kill it!" I wondered how they would like it if someone smooshed them just because they strayed into someone else's room."" p12 This quotation shows that Sal is different from her peers and feels a strong bond with nature. She respects life. I also really like the word "smooshed"! I like this image because the wasp is beautiful & normally i hate them! Yellow wasp by Gustavo Mazzarollo
