History: The person in the picture is Simon Bolivar he lead an army in 1700 to claim Colombia's independence from Spain. In 1810 they finally got their independence from Spain. He made a Government called The Gran Colombia Republic. There territory controlled Now in day Venezuela,Ecuador and Panama. In 1830 Venezuela and Ecuador withdrew from the Republic. Then With the help of the USA Panama got its independence in 1903. In 1910 Colombia changed its Name to the Republic of Colombia. 11
