Papyrus

Papyrus was one of ancient Egypt's top trade goods. It grew abundantly within the Nile River Valley and could be used in many different ways. It was mainly used as a writing surface, but could also be eaten, formed into rope, sandals, boxes, baskets, mats, and more. Mark, Joshua J. "Egyptian Papyrus." Ancient History Encyclopedia.
