"Devious" Diesel, as his name implies, is a black diesel engine who originates from the Mainland, and is the first standard gauge diesel to have ever arrived on Sodor. Initially, he was sent away for bad behaviour, but after a number of return visits, he eventually became a permanent member of the North Western Railway. When Diesel visited the island on trial, Duck was asked to show him around. Duck was unimpressed by Diesel's claims of being "revolutionary" and left him to his own devices…
