Oxford Villa
A Cornish cottage that's been rented out for a while. Wear and tear with tenants is inevitable but this cottage has , in the main, been well looked after by its temporary residents. Now it needs some building work, the old mortuary next door is also going to be incorporated into the main house once purchased from the Co-Op.
The plan is to use as much recycled furniture and materials as possible . Junk shops, skips, EBay and donations from friends will give this home a distinctive look .

Our own 'Worlds Most Comfortable Chair' GPlan classic now renamed the 62. We bought ours on EBay from a seller in Penryn. The base plate would suggest it is an early 60's model . Upholstered in its original brown velvet which had faded to pale blue and lilac when we bought it. We had it reupholstered in Callington using an oversized houndstooth cloth in black and taupe. Above it is a neon sign ' the old mortuary' reflecting the buildings previous use.
The sofa in this picture was pulled out of a skip in Saltash 20 years ago. Already ancient it had been recovered in 80's pink and yellow regency stripes. It lived for years in my art studio , a space that doubled up as a gathering space for my children and their friends. Now recovered in pale gold velvet and reupholstered it looks out over the distant hills of Bodmin and North Cornwall from the bedroom in the old mortuary.
