This is true. I had to stop exhibiting toxic behavior that I had picked up as defensive mechanisms. It was a process. I had to reprogram myself to deal with normal people and normal situations again.

A little extreme and unnecessary to use universal words, like never, but yes controlling people usually have to be right. Exhausting and waste of energy trying to deal with these difficult types of people. I am not here to prove what you do is wrong, as I believe in personal growth, but I am not going to put up with people going out of their way trying to make me look stupid or belittle me just so they can get ahead. I will not tolerate that disrespect, what you are doing is petty.

It is very common for a narcissist to gaslight a victim when he or she is becoming too powerful or threatening to them. Narcissists shame and police victims who stand up for themselves, who set boundaries, and dare to be visible and authentic. Narcissists would prefer you be quiet, compliant, and contort yourself for their comfort. Solution? Continue setting boundaries, slaying, expressing your authentic self, standing up for yourself, and removing toxic people from your life.
