Does anyone at all here like Harleys?

100% agree with you, hopefully the split-off of the Livewire into a sub-brand is the start of that.
... they already have! LiveWire is no longer a HD badge.https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/2021/july/live...
As for the 'Sportster-S' - I'd give one a go, but the looks just don't appeal to me at all - sounds silly - but way too sporty for my liking - I like cruiser bikes, HDs are meant to be that style, even the Sportster, if I wanted a sports looking bike I woudl buy a different brand. *no - I'm not a 'boomer' as I'm sub-40.
In the video H-D say that there will be "future models that will definitely tap into some of the more classic form factors of Sportster", which I assume is marketing speak for "we want to take sales from Triumph's modern classic range". I wonder what they'll steal from?
Perhaps the XLCR
or the XLCH
or the original 1957 XL
It's worked well for Triumph, although H-D would have to work on the engine's appearance to get the full fake air-cooled effect.

I like Harleys.... Some Harleys anyway.
The new Fat Bob especially. I've never ridden one but I imagine that they have character in spades.
I understand the ridicule of the chaps and fake bike gang stuff but do you know what's equally tragic?
Race replicas and race leathers on the road pretending to be a cut price Rossi or Marquez.
It's the motorbike equivalent of driving a 555 liveried Impreza complete with fleece and hat.

The new Sportster is clearly a direct competitor to the Rebel 1100 but once again HD has priced themselves out of the market.
No it isn't, its competition is the Indian Scout, the Sportster 'S' model is the top spec option in the future range, cheaper models are on the way, with more power, better suspension than the Scout for the same price. The HD official vid even shows a second model briefly, with twin shocks and chrome exhaust.I’ve had tons of bikes ( over 60 I think)but I get more fun hauling a tuned Harley about than I do riding a sports bike . Big twins are great off the lights too - mine is a tuned 1800 screaming eagle engine in a Dyna frame. You can enjoy Harley engines without going crazy speeds - I love them

I had rarely looked twice at Harleys until I saw the Sportster S. 121hp (almost enough power), modern electronics (C-ABS, etc.) and a fairly svelte 228kg ready-to-ride. And I happen to like feet-forward riding – it’s an acquired taste, like dark chocolate. While I haven't acquired a taste for fat front tyres, the ‘S’ makes HD look like it’s arrived in the 21st Century. Finally!

It looks good for a cruiser with a bit of go in it. 120bhp and just 228Kg is ground breaking ....for Harley-Davidson It could be the fastest accelerating model in the range now...well not far off the 150bhp Pan America.
I wonder what the differences are in the engine, and how easy it is to get 150bhp out it....it could almost be a "super naked" then

Looks better in the 2nd pic , first one looks like some shed built thing featured in awol magazine , still wouldn’t give up my harleys for one and doubt it would out perform my streetrod .

If the Sportster S doesnt have a "classic" version that at least looks right, my next bike may have to be some sort of softail/fatboy/ or even that new rebel .... even though it is somewhat "modern" looking, it still looks right in my eyes! Plus my first bigboy bike was an old 250 rebel so I have a bit of a nostalgic softspot for them!

Oh you mean that gigantic muscle cruiser? Suzuki beat that a long time ago with the M109R
Not my cup of tea but if all you care about is massive power while insisting on sticking with the cruiser type riding position and looks, nothing else really compares to it.
I'd never heard of that, its a heavy old beast! Not my cup of tea but if all you care about is massive power while insisting on sticking with the cruiser type riding position and looks, nothing else really compares to it.
