While it’s true that some bands make almost no money from touring, this is not the case for Blink 182. They’re estimated to pocket between $500k and $1 million in gross sales per show.
In 2022, Blink 182 reportedly earned an average of $1 million per show. This can be attributed to Ticketmaster’s new dynamic pricing upgrade – which automatically sets ticket prices in accordance to public demand. It resulted in some fans paying over $1000 for a ticket.
Assuming a cost margin of 40%, with 15% allocated to management and 20% to booking agencies, a $1 million show potentially earns each member $80 000. Apart from ticket and album sales, Blink 182 members have also profited from various side projects over the years. This has led to some lucrative assets.
In 2021, Tom DeLonge’s (singer/guitarist) Idyllwild retreat entered the market for $2,295,000. Situated in Calfornia, Idyllwild is a nature-lovers oasis. The mile high paradise has no shortage of pine-filled mountains for those seeking an adventure.
Tom’s new home is located in Encinitas, California. The enormous property includes 3 parking spaces and is valued at $3.11 million. Tom wrote in an Instagram post: “I love Encinitas. We are the world capitol of skateboarding, surfing and self awareness/spirituality.”
Tom DeLonge’s net worth totals in at $70 million, making him the second highest paid member of Blink 182. Ironically, bassist Mark Hoppus boasts a net worth of $80 million, partly due to his success in the clothing industry. This makes Mark the highest paid member of Blink 182.
Mark purchased his Beverley Hills mansion in 2004 for $3.65 million. The house is engulfed in Californian landscape. Mark said: “You would not think that it’s a desert-style garden. It has flowers, bees, hummingbirds, butterflies and all kinds of cool stuff. We love it. It feels like a musician’s house to me. Just all the curves and the color – there’s a real rhythm to the house.”
Marks house features an underground studio located underneath the garden. Illuminated stairs can be seen leading up. It looks like the ideal place to spend your time. Mark said: “Especially during the pandemic, I was down there, and I would work on music, play video games, or I would stream on Twitch. It’s really just a great place to chill out and throw ideas around. It feels very comfortable.”
