The Pacific Northwest Conference Office of Connectional Ministries works collaboratively and creatively to serve the missional needs of United Methodist ministries in Washington state and Northern Idaho. We welcome the submission of news and requests (job openings, ministry materials) that benefit the local church and serve the mission of our larger connection. Space limitations and other considerations may prevent your material from being printed or posted.
Any fundraising events or requests should be for official United Methodist projects, most typically denoted with a conference or general church Advance Number. Publication of causes, events or job postings by partnered agencies, outside groups, and unofficial organizations within, shall be at the discretion of the Director of Communications as guided by denominational policy and practice.
While we will occasionally share information about ministry materials (books, curricula, etc.) and training opportunities that may be beneficial to leaders in our local churches, we reserved the right to use our sole discretion in making such decisions.

We welcome comments on many of the posts on this site. To encourage respectful dialogue, we’ve posted these simple guidelines below.

We retain the discretion to determine which comments violate our comment policy. We also reserve the right to remove those violations and to block aggressive users.
Dialogue and disagreement are welcome but comments containing ad hominem attacks, off topic remarks, and/or abusive language against individuals are not welcome.
About the Pacific Northwest Conference
The Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church is called to be a community, diverse and united in God’s saving love, sent out in vital life-giving ministry for and with Jesus Christ.
The strategy of the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference is to fulfill the purpose and move toward our vision, the Annual Conference will provide lay and clergy transformational leadership for vital ministry.
The primary task of the Conference is calling, credentialing, equipping, sending forth, and nurturing lay and clergy transformational leaders.
Additional important functions of the Pacific Northwest Conference are; strategizing for new ministry development and congregational redevelopment, connecting for ministry beyond the local church, and providing support services.
About Annual Conference
Each year—usually toward the middle of June—all clergy members and an equal number of lay members selected from the local churches attend their conference’s Annual Conference session to meet together to worship, fellowship, and conduct the business of the conference, which may last 3-5 days. During these sessions, members of the conference hear reports of past and ongoing work; adopt future goals, programs and budgets; ordain clergy members as deacons and elders; and elect delegates to Jurisdictional and General Conferences (every 4 years). The bishop presides over these meetings.
About General Conference
The General Conference is the top policy-making body of The United Methodist Church, and meets once every four years to consider revisions to church law, as well as adopt resolutions on current moral, social, public policy and economic issues. It also approves plans and budgets for church-wide programs for the next four years. The 2016 meeting will take place in May in Portland, Oregon.
