I’ll admit, I tend to enjoy Blaze and the Monster Machines a little more than I should while watching it with some of my younger family members, as it’s as educational as it is fun. The latest set of high-octane adventures comes to us with the Blaze and the Monster Machines: Race Into Velocityville DVD that features four episodes and two bonus ones that should keep viewers young and young at heart zooming along while learning all sorts of neat ways to apply STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) to their lives.
I guess it was only a matter of time before Blaze would be able to morph into a race car, and that’s exactly what he does in the episode “Race Car Blaze” that features guest star racecar drivers Danica Patrick, Jimmie Johnson, Chase Elliott and Kasey Kahne. Here Blaze and AJ travel to Velocityville, a town that’s all about race cars and putting the pedal to the metal in super charged races. In order to save his friends from a car named Speedrick that has locked up his friends’ wheels, Blaze transforms into a racecar to speed to the rescue. “Race to Eagle Rock” has Blaze and his buddies returning to Velocityville for yet another adventure as they’ll have to race to the top of Eagle Rock. This time though, all of them get to transform into race cars for some high speed fun, if they can overcome Crusher and his obstacles first. “Sky Track” sees Blaze helping out Swoops the helicopter as he loses his rotor, and “The Wishing Wheel” has our heroes searching for a magic wheel that will grant one wish.
From the cool characters to the fun ways they use STEM to solve problems, I had a good time watching this DVD as did my young relatives. Children and their parents are sure to light up when the intro fires up, and will stay tuned until the checkered flag has waved. Those who enjoy the show will be glad to know the visuals and audio are just as colorful and clear as they are when aired on Nick Jr, and that there’s two bonus episodes included titled “The Hundred Mile Race” and “The Polar Derby” for more racing fun with Blaze and his buddies.
Fans of the show and those looking for something fun and educational to view with their kids or young ones will want to start up their engines and proceed to snag a copy of the Blaze and the Monster Machines: Race Into Velocityville DVD. Packed with loads of STEM learning fun and of course racing, there’s more than enough here to get your race engine going.
