Choose a Career in Nutrition & Health
By Richard Burton
It’s amazing how much more conscious people are becoming about health and nutrition. What was once confined to athletes and a few keep-fit enthusiasts, has now become mainstream. This is a really positive development. Because of this, we can expect not just greater longevity, but also a much higher quality of life for the years we are given.
One of the factors that brought about this change, is that people are now seeking out information on nutrition and wellbeing far more than they did before. For this, they look to the professionals. You can now find qualified lifestyle coaches and nutritional experts in most towns around the country.
The Irish Institute of Nutrition & Health (IINH), Bray, Co Wicklow, has pioneered nutrition and lifestyle education in Ireland since 2002. We were the first college to train Health Coaches and Nutritional Therapists, both with internationally recognised qualifications.
Our graduates can be found working around the world in all health related fields including one-to-one coaching and therapy, group sessions and workshops, teaching, R&D, media work and beyond, such is the demand for their expertise in these more enlightened times.
For those who regard good health as the most precious of assets, what career could be more appealing? Our courses will give you the opportunity to get out there and make a difference.
Our friends at CNM are bringing us great events hosted in and around Ireland. Here is what they have coming up:

Blackrock, Co. Dublin
Course Fee: €350 (Including all materials)
In the Spring issue of the magazine, out March, we feature some interesting insights into mindfulness from none other than legendary comedian Ruby Wax. One thing we loved is that Ruby noted, “It takes work, it’s not going to happen because you prayed to an elephant!” While she admits to “taking the piss” out of anything ‘new agey’, she uses mindfulness as an internal, personal breaking system and takes time for it, even when she’s sitting in the back of a taxi.
Mindfulness is not something you have to acquire, it is innate in and available to all of us. On the 8 week MBSR course, you can learn how to awaken and use this deep internal resource to help you respond more effectively to the stresses and demands of everyday life, so that you can have a happier and more satisfying life.
Make sure to grab a copy of the Spring issue to find out exactly how much it’s done for Ms. Wax. In the mean time, why not sign up for some yourself? Don’t worry, no one will make you pray to an elephant – unless of course that’s what works for you!
Benefits include:
- Reduction in physical and psychological symptoms
- An increased ability to relax
- Increased self esteem
- More effective communication
- Increased ability to effectively deal with stressful situations
- Greater energy and zest for life
