The Spurs welcome some rest
As much as they’d like to get back on the court and redeem two straight home losses to the fans, ESPN’s Michael Wright notes that the no-excuse Spurs still welcome their three days off in the midst of one of the most exhausting and difficult opening schedules in the league.
Tony Parker is still the leader until Pop says otherwise
After hyper-extending his knee in the season opener vs Golden State, Parker tried but failed to play through the pain and bruising. Now that his return is near, don’t expect any starting QB controversies in this Texas town, according to SAEN’s Jeff McDonald.
Lingering questions for the contenders
Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale takes a look at some lingering questions for the top teams in the league, including a Spurs team that no longer relies on its backcourt as a main strength.
ESPN Top 200 Player Rankings
Several more Spurs have made an appearance in ESPN’s countdown of the league’s top 200 players since last week. A couple of players showed up in the 51-100 category, and LaMarcus Aldridge came in at 23 today. Well, that’s that. There’s no reason to keep an eye on this thing any longer, right?
Interesting Fact of the Day
We already knew that thanks in particular to Manu Ginobili and Danny Green, the Spurs were one of few teams that could claim titles in four major world competitions: the NBA, Euroleague, Olympics and NCAA. Now, with the addition of Pau Gasol, they can add the FIBA World Cup to that impressive list thanks to Spain’s 2006 title, and they are the only team in the NBA with all five accolades, per clutchpoints.com.
Have a good d...Wait! Bonus time!
Checking in on an old pal
Do you think our beloved Marco Belinelli misses playing on a team where his teammates actually know where to go on the court? (SB Nation blames this on Marco, but I blame it on on Treveon Graham for not sliding to the corner.)
Ok, now go and have a good day, and be sure to enjoy some actual fall weather!
