Newtral’s Ana Pastor and El Mundo’s Lucía Mendez lead Spanish speakers in a free 10-day WhatsApp course designed by MediaWise.
The daily 5-minute lessons include simple, yet practical, techniques designed to improve digital engagement and awareness. By the end of the course, learners will be able to identify and explain different types of misinformation, and practice techniques professional fact-checkers use for verification.
MediaWise partnered with Newtral to customize and localize the educational content. Newtral is a media startup focused on the production of programs for television and platforms, new narratives in social networks, innovation in journalism through fact-checking and research based on artificial intelligence. Universidad de Navarra, a consolidated research center will evaluate the impact of this program.
Mendez, editor-in-chief of El Mundo, and Pastor, journalist and founder of Newtral, join this educational effort as MediaWise Ambassadors. They walk learners through the daily WhatsApp message, question and video. Participants must respond to the question to guarantee a lesson the next day.
