I think HBO is on to something here with the “One Small Act” film it’s airing about a woman who, through a small donation, changed a life.

It seems to me that with all the news we’ve heard this summer about oil gushing and politicians tearing one another down, examples of good people doing good deeds would resonate. These kinds of stories remind us that we don’t have to give away Bill Gates-sized fortunes or discover cures for diseases to make a difference.

By the way, here is one of my favorite little ways to do some good. Kiva, a group that aims to cut down on poverty, lets you find opportunities to loan money to people who want to make their lives better.
