The Downriver League held its second-to-last bowling league meet of the regular season on Thursday at Skore Lanes in Taylor.

A conference championship was up for grabs as the Taylor High girls’ team came in needing a win to clinch at least a share of the league crown. After having a bye in the last league meet on Monday, Taylor came into Thursday’s action one point ahead of second-place and defending league champion Wyandotte Roosevelt.
TAYLOR HIGH 27, SOUTHGATE ANDERSON 3
With a convincing effort against Southgate Anderson, the girls from Taylor put themselves in position to win the league title outright next week.
Taylor opened up the match by sweeping the two baker games and outscoring Anderson by nearly 100 pins (323 to 232). The Griffins then went on to win seven of the 10 singles games in the regular series.
Raven Bellmore (144-199) and Lilly Adams (178-188) each won two games for Taylor. Alexis Goins (174) picked up a win in the first series while Angel Miles (149) and Aria Ragland (147) won their respective second games.
Anderson got wins from Danielle Novotnik (184) and Lydia Bednar (120) in the first series; Novotnik spun a two-game total of 330 to lead the Titans. Madison Marquess (190) earned a win in the second series.
WYANDOTTE ROOSEVELT 19, TRENTON 11
Hoping to keep their league title hopes alive, Roosevelt did its part on Thursday by beating their counterparts from Trenton.
It was a win of the comeback variety for Roosevelt as they lost both opening baker games to Trenton. But The Bears made up ground in a big way by taking wins in nine of the 10 singles games and outscored the Trojans in both series.
Brooklynn Forester (140-133) and Ellen Isenegger (141-124) guided Roosevelt to the comeback victory as each earned two wins. Lauren Moreno (140) and Angelita Rodriguez (179) each had wins in the second series while the Bears also picked up three points from split games.
Trenton’s only victory in the regular games came by way of Reya Johnson with her game one score of 136. Johnson finished with a two-game total of 249 overall.
WOODHAVEN 21, LINCOLN PARK 9
Much like Roosevelt did, Woodhaven had to make hay in the regular games. The Warriors split the opening baker games with Lincoln Park and then each finished with 220 combined pins.
But with six victories in the regular games and outscoring Lincoln Park in both series, Woodhaven was able to secure the win. The Warriors got a pair of wins from Faith Winton (167-182) and Kylee Gibbs (141-122) and then solo wins in the second series from Diamond Pastorius (157) and Giovanna Vallejo (143).
Lincoln Park got two victories from Megan Fisk (167-130) and then single wins in the first series from Brianna Peters (174) and Alina Lovins (116). Peters with her win owns a league-best 28 points earned on the season.
GIBRALTAR CARLSON 29, DEARBORN EDSEL FORD 1
Carlson outscored Edsel Ford in the two baker games (264 to 208) and then did so in both regular series (1432 to 1118). The Marauders got two wins each from Brooklyn DesJardins (149-142), Hannah Krolak (153-143), Ashlynn Chapman (161-180) and a split duo of Reese Arndt and Natalie Daugherty (112-121). Madelyn O’Connor (152) also picked up a win in the first series.
Marlee Beck (153) won her second game for the only Edsel Ford point earned in the match. Beck finished with a two-game total of 286 to lead the Thunderbirds.

CARLSON 25, EDSEL FORD 5
With much of the success coming in the regular series. The two teams split the opening baker games with Carlson picking up the extra two points by virtue of their combined baker total (352 to 302).
The Marauders then cleaned up in the regular series, winning nine of 10 games and outscoring the Thunderbirds in the pin total department (1895 to 1432). Nico Reach (201-243), Matthew Vizachero (157-202), Jordan Bryson (187-200), and Bobb Walter (148-167) each won two games for Carlson while Zackary Sisk (227) picked up a win in his second game.
For Edsel Ford, Eli Richardson (169) had a win in the first series; he finished with a two-game total of 312 to pace the Thunderbirds.
ROOSEVELT 26, TRENTON 4
Doing their part to keep their league title defense alive, Roosevelt cruised to a win over Trenton with a collective effort in both the baker and regular games.
After defeating Trenton in the baker games 348 to 310, Roosevelt went on to win six of the 10 individual games and outscore the Trojans in both series.
Dominick Bozynski (192-165) picked up two wins for the Bears. Nick Webster (191) and Tommy Bain (225) had wins in the first series; Bain had a two-game total of 431 to lead all bowlers at the meet on Thursday. Jack Murray (225) and Michael Massengill (168) each had wins in the second series.
Trenton got single wins each from Keegan Airgood (191) and Austin Prisza (159) in the first series while Seth Lozon (245) and Shane Keeton (191) in the second series. Keeton was the only one to bowl two games on Thursday as the Trojans deployed seven different bowlers.
WOODHAVEN 24.5, LINCOLN PARK 5.5
After splitting the opening baker games, Woodhaven cleaned up in the regular games vs Edsel Ford. The Warriors claimed 8.5 out of a possible 10 points and outscored the Thunderbirds by over 300 pins in the two series.
Matthew Sterbenz (214-193) picked up two points for Woodhaven with his two victories. Dominic Duey (189-189) earned 1.5 points by virtue of his win in the first series and tying Lincoln Park’s Marcelo Dominguez in the second series.
The Warriors also got single point wins from Lance Sterbenz (202), Nicholas Smith (167), and Noah Baron (169), as well as two points from two split games.
In addition to the half-point earned from Dominguez, Lincoln Park’s lone victory came in the form of Myles Owens (155) in the first series.
TAYLOR 22, ANDERSON 8
A strong showing in the baker games helped set the tone for Taylor High in a win over Southgate Anderson on Thursday.
Taylor swept both opening games and outscored Anderson, 350 to 311. The Griffins continued that momentum in the regular games where they picked up 12 out of a possible 20 points.
Taylor got single wins from Cody Hayes (207), Bruce Mousseau (179), Jacob Sucharski (214), and Kyle Thibeault (231) while Ethan Jackson (234-165) won both of his contests.
For Anderson, three of their four wins in the regular games came in the second series, courtesy of Jacob Beck (190), Devin Korbal (192), and Ricky Wuerker (157). Meanwhile in the first series, Riley Cornett in just his seventh game of the league slate earned his fourth point with a winning score of 169.
