Do The Move!

Do the Move!

That’s what volunteers behind the Project Happy Feet’s first-ever social media campaign using music and dance are asking people around the world to do.

The HAPPY FEET DANCE MOVEMENT, which was launched on 19 July 2013, hopes to generate publicity for the upcoming Project Happy Feet Slipper Race Singapore 2013, and also to spread the word on the cause of the non-profit organisation.

The campaign calls for people to watch a dance video featuring the theme song for Project Happy Feet Slipper Race Singapore 2013 titled ‘Tomorrow’ and the ‘HAPPY FEET DANCE’. Viewers are asked to record themselves dancing to the beat of the song and submit their dance videos.

Organisers are hoping to get clips not only from Singaporeans, but also from friends around the world – including beneficiaries of Project Happy Feet in Cambodia, Vietnam, Nepal and Philippines.

On the day of the Slipper Race on 31 August, participants will be asked to join in a mass dance, which would be captured on film.

After the Slipper Race, a montage of the submitted entries and highlights from the mass dance will be stitched into another music video and launched on Project Happy Feet’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.

To move a campaign like this, it required help from the music, film and digital media industry. What’s amazing is how professionals – who didn’t know each other before the project – were all moved by the cause of Project Happy Feet, and stepped forward to put everything together – absorbing their own costs, volunteering their talent and expertise.

At the heart of the campaign is the song ‘Tomorrow’. Composed (both tune and lyrics) by Ong Jin Jie and produced by musician Peng Chi Sheng, who is Director of Intune Music, the song inspires people to “go, go, go.. go towards tomorrow…inspire to achieve…sustaining our dreams.”

The song also contain a rap (written and performed) by Leon Chua. The arrangement, editing and mixing was done by Sin Sek Jhia and recorded by Kester Tan.
