I mean, they’re a bit of fun, aren’t they? Even though sometimes you know the jokes are going to be bad, that’s the joy of it! They’re basic but they’re a bit of a laugh, a bit of an icebreaker.

What are your Christmas traditions?

Every year I have to cook a traditional Jamaican Christmas cake, called a black cake. We make it with fruits that have been soaking throughout the year. You’re not supposed to, but I will cook mine on Christmas Eve – I just love the smell that it leaves in the house. Christmas movie playing, the kids around… lovely.

Any big plans this year?

Well, I’m hosting Live at the Apollo. I’m so excited – one, because I’m hosting; two, because my glam squad made me look amazing; three, because it’s Live at the Apollo! There’s one thing being asked to be on the show, but to actually host it… and at Christmas, when I know all my family’s going to be watching! It’s an absolute honour.
