The top 10 suburbs for first homebuyers across NSW have been revealed.

Campbelltown has emerged as NSW’s most popular suburb for first-home buyers.

Data released by property experts InfoTrack has named the top 10 suburbs helping first homebuyers get into the market in a challenging environment of rising interest rates and housing affordability.

InfoTrack’s Property Market Update collated the highest number of sales for first home buyers from July to September, with the 2560 postcode including 19 suburbs in and around Campbelltown climbing from 7th place in the previous quarter to the top position.

InfoTrack’s head of property Australia Lee Bailie said a younger cohort of buyers were taking advantage of the high value on offer in Greater Western Sydney.

“This postcode includes the hubs of Campbelltown, Leumeah, Macarthur Square and Appin, which are strong communities in themselves, and have the added advantage of being within commutable distance to the Sydney CBD,” Mr Bailie said.

“It’s positive to see younger buyers entering the property market, with 69 per cent of those who purchased in the 2560 postcode last quarter aged under 39.

“A closer analysis shows more than a third were aged 30-39, followed closely by 20-29-year-olds.”

The data found that properties ranging in value from $700-$800K were the most sought-after.

InfoTrack’s data also revealed the three new postcodes emerging in the top 10 list for the first time.

“Sydney’s western postcode of 2200, home to Bankstown and Condell Park, came in at

number seven, and 2127, which includes Homebush Bay, Sydney Olympic Park, Newington,

and Wentworth Point, came in at number eight for the greatest number of sales to first home buyers last quarter,” Mr Bailie said.

Sydney’s northern suburbs of North Ryde, East Ryde, Macquarie Centre, Macquarie Park and Blenhein Rd snuck into the list taking out 10th place.

It was the only region outside of Greater Western Sydney to make the top 10.

The northwestern postcode of 2765 – including suburbs of Marsden Park, Oakville, Riverstone and Vineyard – dropped to third after taking out the top spot last quarter.
