The animated series is not for children. In fact, its goal seems to be to offend as many as possible as it presents the adventures of Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman. The show has taken on Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, politicians of every stripe and self-important celebrities. Oh, and Kenny is killed in many episodes.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

South Park delivers an uncharacteristically stilted season that feels timid in its satire and unsure of who or what it's lampooning.

Lara Zarum Village Voice After twenty years of skewering public figures from Steve Jobs to Donald Rumsfeld to Britney Spears, Parker and Stone seemed stumped. Oct 23, 2017 Full Review Charles Bramesco New York Magazine/Vulture The episode manages to take both approaches while it works through the horror of knowing Trump has his finger on the big red button. Rated: 4/5 Sep 28, 2017 Full Review Jack Shepherd Independent (UK) A mixed start to the season that will hopefully find its feet soon enough. Sep 19, 2017 Full Review Matt Miller Esquire Magazine It's a sad message to end a sad season on, and even more pathetic in 2017. Oct 19, 2018 Full Review Matt Melis Consequence So, no, it hasn't been a great season by South Park standards, but it has been one that reminds us that the show remains as relevant as ever. Not bad 21 years in. Feb 14, 2018 Full Review Chris Longo Den of Geek ... they came out punching with kid's gloves for the season 21 premiere. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 19, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews

SMG w "You cannot match my shtyle!" What you didn't know about this season is it's a bunch of throwback possibility jokes. And when I mean throw back. They put all the creative measures of what you can do in a cartoon, in a box, and attempted to make it simple. The formula still works. One liners delivered at the end, yet some jokes punch you in the face at the start. Like tweek behind the piano. We opened up season 21 with very simple slap stick comedy. Not fancy CGI effects of imagination land. You won't be disappointed by everything in season 21. It's just the first episode doesn't really kick off right. You think Mark Zuckerberg is off in the show, but at the end if you watched with any of your friends. You'll be saying aloud. "You cannot match my shtyle!" Because of how in the moment hilarious everything was. Hummel's and heroin is the same concept, you'll cringe at the start. But then you are blasted with an out of world scene that were actual rather simple in it's take that makes you appreciate Matt Stone, and Trey Parker's humor as art. As stated, I opened this season up in expectations for something creative and out of this world. I saw it's actual art at the end of the show. Not how imaginative it can be, but rather how some simple takes on life, how it can still be funny as fuck. An observation like this calls for practical inspiration. Matt Stone and Trey Parker are geniuses when coupled. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/16/24 Full Review Dionisis T By far the most epic superhero comeback ever possible!Nice season with a weird ending I'd say was worth the time in the end... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/24 Full Review Enchanted M South Park season 21 is an improvement upon its previous season 20 but still doesn't fully hit the mark. The only 3 noteworthy things to talk about for this season are the introduction of Strong Woman who does actually have a great relationship with PC Principal which is really fun to watch, the episode "Franchise Prequel" that successfully introduces the next South Park game called "The Fractured But Whole", and the absolutely amazing "Put It Down" episode that really carries the rest of the season to greatness (and I know I'm not the first to say that but it is very much true). Besides those 3 noteworthy things, the rest of the episodes are not bad but some are better than others. South Park season 21 is an improvement from season 20 but its nothing to get South Park back on its feet like how it was years ago. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A real low for this amazing show. Noteworthy episodes are few Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Amazing season only love to pass around. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member A huge step up from season 20, such memorable episodes like White People Renovating Houses, Franchise Prequel, Hummels & Heroin, Sons a Witches, Doubling Down, and Moss Piglets.
