Talon is a survivor. The last of the Blackblood race, she also endured the destruction of her entire village by a gang of brutal missionaries. Years after that life-defining attack, she travels to a lawless fortress along the edge of the civilized world, tracking the individuals who killed her family. As she makes the journey, she discovers that she possesses a mysterious supernatural power that she must now learn to control, not only to save herself but to defend the world against the tyranny of a fanatical religious dictator.

Critics Consensus

A featherweight fantasy with a few enticing features, The Outpost's potential pleasures can't quite overcome its cheap-looking production design.

Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times The series, which is humorous enough and romantic enough and as bloody as it needs to be for the international market, is not completely predictable. Jul 10, 2018 Full Review Daniel Fienberg The Hollywood Reporter Way too much of the pilot for The Outpost is people talking around the things the budget can't show. Jul 10, 2018 Full Review Charles E. Henning Tell-Tale TV A majority of other shows I would have turned off by now, to be honest with you. All the negatives piling on each other, really hinders my ability to suspend belief... The key is the mysteries that you don't see coming. Rated: 3/5 Sep 28, 2018 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Imagine a low-rent Game of Thrones wannabe with bargain basement special effects and a paint-by-numbers plot and you've got a good conception of the fantasy drama The Outpost. Jul 16, 2018 Full Review Stephanie Francis Black Girl Nerds If you are really into fantasy and can easily suspend disbelief, you might enjoy The Outpost. Despite its issues, there is a lot going on that might intrigue viewers. Jul 12, 2018 Full Review Mark Dolan Common Sense Media This series is marred by sub-par acting and below-average production values, yet there are some pleasures to be had in this Xena-esque adventure. Christopher C Jessica Green nuff said Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/17/25 Full Review Audience Member This is not "GOT" or "His Dark Materials" and there are several cheesy SyFy Channel-esque subplots and TV level special FX that occasionally try to scuttle this series. However, if you like the magical realms genre, this is REALLY good. Thoroughly enjoyable story with much better than expected acting and fight scenes. Watch all 4 seasons! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/25 Full Review simon g I love this serie and Jessica Green is perfect here. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Stephen C The show is consistently intriguing and exciting and fills its niche well. You won't always see the plot twists coming. It's light, but not in that there's a lack of drama, some of it is heavy, it just doesn't dwell on the drama at the expense of keeping the plot moving. Jessica Green is excellent as Talon, totally believable. Not many shows are good enough for me to save them up to watch later. This one made the list. There's more than enough to love here to overlook the show's minor flaws. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/13/22 Full Review Audience Member This show doesn't stop getting worse. The more I watch the more I hated some of the ‘heroes'. I found myself rooting for the villains to just kill them all. The characters are so stupid and constantly flip flop on themselves. The good ideas this show has are dwarfed by everything it does wrong. It's like they tried to write strong female characters, but horribly missed the mark. Everyone is so dumb Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member really good, especially for the CW. it has pretty girls, action, an interesting story line, and characters that you invest in. i feel in love with this series pretty quickly.
