Kerry musician and writer Maidhc Dainín Ó Sé has died.
Mr Ó Sé published 19 books, including A Thig Ná Tit Orm, which is on the Leaving Cert curriculum.
He was also well-known for his involvement in Oireachtas na Gaeilge.
He is predeceased by his daughter Deirdre and survived by his wife Caitlín and four other children, including television presenter Daithí.
Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Jimmy Deenihan expressed his sadness at Mr Ó Sé's death.
He said the Kerry man was one of the country's most important writers, following in the footsteps of Tomás Ó Criomhthain and Muiris Ó Súilleabháin.
