Jackie Jameson nominated by Paul Murray
I think Jackie Jameson was not only Bohemians' best player, but the greatest player in the history of the league.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Mark Nutley
The Great Man never won what his talent deserved. Time for recognition.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Denis Kirwan
I would like to nominate the late, great Jackie Jameson of Bohemians as the greatest League of Ireland player of all time. Known as the Great Man at Bohemians, Jackie was truly magic. A quiet, unassuming, bicycle-riding gentleman who let his football do the talking, the brilliance of the Great Man will always remain a special part of my youth.

One particular incident is etched in my mind. When a long ball was played up to him in a match at Tolka Park, Jameson made a run at two defenders and without looking back, Jackie was able to flick the oncoming ball with his heel over the two defenders and score with an incredible volley.

Aside from Diego Maradona's World Cup masterpiece against England, that goal remains the best I have ever seen and Jackie, who sadly passed away in 2002, has always been one of my great sporting heroes.

Tommy Kelly nominated by T Witter
Played in midfield for Bohemians in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Most appearances for Bohs, 575 competitive appearances with 31 goals. Two League winners medals, two FAI Cup winners medals, two League Cup winners medals with the club. After retiring from playing, he had a spell coaching Bohs' reserve team.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Shane Towell
The Great Man was the real deal. He was my neighbour and friend. We had many a kick about in Sundrive Park. I saw Jackie pull moves that defied the laws of physics. Jackie had that magic that could turn a game and make you smile. Always remembered.

Jackie Jameson & Turlough O'Connor nominated by Tom O'Brien

Jackie Jameson nominated by Brendan Dunne

Kevin Hunt nominated by Stephen McDonnell
Simply because he has been the best midfielder of the last decade and has shown loyalty beyond the boundaries to our club. A gentleman off the pitch and a tough tackling professional on it. The first ‘real’ Bohs legend since the great Jackie Jameson.

Kevin Hunt nominated by Stuart McPartlan
Kevin Hunt celebratesI would like to nominate Kevin Hunt from Bohemians. Throughout the years, there have been several players who played for the club that would deserve a nomination, Jackie Jameson, Tony O’Connell, Turlough O’Connor and Glen Crowe to name but a few. Not forgetting former Ireland and Manchester United defender Kevin Moran (Bohemians' B team). Hunt is now in his third year with Bohemians. He was brought in during possibly the club's worst season ever. He arrived around Christmas with a view to being a possible short term solution for Roddy Collins' team who were languishing at the bottom of the table. The club narrowly avoided relegation that season by beating Cobh in the relegation play-off over two legs. Two seasons later, he captained the club to the league and cup double, their first title in 24 years and their first double in about 78 years. Previously that year he also captained the side in UEFA Cup wins away to Aberdeen and Kaiserslautern (who went on to reach the quarter-finals that year). Two years later he lifted the league trophy for a second time. Kevin remained loyal to Bohemians throughout his time at the club. He received offers to leave from almost every League of Ireland club as well as clubs from the UK and all over Europe. As an Englishman, the draw of moving back home and trying to make it across the water (which is what most players in Ireland dream of) never appealed to Kevin. His love for Bohs was and is as strong as the fans' love for him. Ten years later at the age of 32, his commitment and professionalism on the field is second to none. Off the field, he is also a gentleman of the highest degree, always making an appearance at club events and has all the time in the world for any fan who wants a chat. Without question, the best player to have ever graced a League of Ireland pitch.

The person I would like to nominate as our all-time legend is the late Jackie Jameson of Bohemian FC.

What a player the legend of Jackie Jameson. And as Jimmy Magee once said, Jay Jay Okocha reminds him of Jackie Jameson, the original JJ (Jackie Jameson).

Jackie Jameson nominated by Emer

Kevin Hunt nominated by Ciarán Greene, 21

Jackie Jameson nominated by Kevin Monaghan
If you really want to give this award to a true legend you don't have look any further than the legend that is Jackie Jameson, always be a Bohs man.

Jackie Jameson nominated by John Baitson
The mercurial Jackie JamesonJackie scored the best live goal I ever saw in Dalymount. He was down at the Shopping Centre end in front of the reserve terrace when he took a ball from a throw-in. He knocked the ball over his head, ran past a couple of defenders and blasted into the net. (Against Athlone I think). At the same time a bird dropped dead behind the goal!!. Jackie had incredible skill, was unassuming and a great gentleman. RIP.

Kevin Hunt nominated by Mark Keane
Captain and best player over the last decade.

Kevin Hunt nominated by Padraig Kelly
Ten years at the top and you could count the number of bad games he had on one hand.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Derek Leddy
I would like to nominate Jackie Jameson as the greatest ever League of Ireland player. I grew up in the early 80s and was a regular at Daylier, with Jackie in your side the Bohs were never out of the game. He was a genius, a gentleman and what's lacking in today's game very unassuming. A legend.  Jackie Jameson.

Kevin Hunt nominated by Stan Erraught
Great player, great advertisement for the game.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Philip Byrne
For me Jackie will always hold a special place in my heart because he's simply the reason I support Bohs. When my dad first started bringing my two brothers and I to Dalymount in the early eighties, it was always Jackie we wanted to see. You just never knew what he was going to do. Yes he could be frustrating, but in one second of sublime magic Jackie could light up a dark cold January Sunday evening brighter than any of the floodlights in Dalymount. Anyone who saw his goal against Athlone Town would testify to that. It's just regrettable that there was no TV camera there to capture the greatest goal I have ever seen. To me Jackie was everything good about football, he had no airs and graces and remained loyal to the club that loved him, when many lesser man chose money and success. Though he is no longer with us, Jackie will always remain 'THE GREAT MAN'.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Simon Magennis
Just a legend, not just for Bohs.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Derek Harris
I would like to nominate the late Jackie Jameson (the legend). Jackie was such a wonderful, skilful player to watch, he would have you on the edge of your seat every time he had the ball. Jackie never received the plaudits that he should have. Jackie was a gentleman on and off the pitch, so easy going and approachable. Many thanks for the memories, Jackie.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Ger Hennessy

Jackie Jameson nominated by Niall Walsh, Swords
Without doubt the most under rated soccer player of all time. Jackie was a class act and had he played in England he would have won a bag full of caps. It's a disgrace to look back at some of the rubbish UK born players who played for Ireland while Jackie was ignored. Had more people seen him play he'd win this by a country mile. Jackie was and still is head and shoulders above anyone who played in the League of Ireland, his ball control and skill were joy to watch, even Bobby Charlton had a Jackie Jameson hairstyle! None of the others would lace Jackie's boots and it's about time he got the credit he deserves. Around Dalymount he's known as the 'Great Man' and rightly so. He passed away in October 2002 but the memories will never die. JJ RIP. The Bohs forever.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Aidan Herdman, Celbridge

Jackie Jameson nominated by Paul Roy (40), Tyrrellspass, Westmeath
Jackie Jameson personifies the idea of the League of Ireland player a man seemingly bent on playing class football no matter what critics might say about the level at which he played, often appearing to stand head and shoulders above his peers and possessing the mercurial skill that sets apart the classical player.

Jackie Jameson nominated by John O'Sullivan
I'm a new fan with an old nomination. Being a relatively recent convert to live Irish football, I'll admit that I never saw Jackie Jameson play, at least not in the flesh. I have, however, seen him play on video (you can see him on this YouTube Bohs legends clip), I've heard other fans constantly talk about him in near-reverence, I've read what they've written about him, and I know what he means to Bohs supporters. You cannot walk into Dalymount with your eyes open and not wonder who this great player was. His pictures are on the walls, there's a bar called after him, and his flag is ever-present. When the banner went missing some time ago, an exact replica was created, funded by fans and players alike. Dalymount without Jackie seemed unthinkable. For that reason, even though from personal experience I would choose Kevin Hunt, my nomination is Jackie Jameson. I'm just sorry that, like the rest of a generation of exclusively English club 'supporters', I missed out on seeing him. Check this YouTube link for more Bohs clips.

Kevin Hunt nominated by Fergal Kavanagh
Hunt in actionOriginally dubbed a hatchet man by the manager who signed him, Hunt has been a colossus in the 10 years of loyal service he has given the club. A legend, the only pity is his time at Bohs is nearing its end.

Kevin Hunt nominated by Greg Kirker
Most consistent player in the League of Ireland for 10 years. Best leader/captain in the league. Always composed. Many times a Man of the Match winner. Bohs Til I Die.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Ben Ryan (29), Maynooth (formerly of Donaghmede)
I want to nominate Jackie Jameson for the Legend award. When I first went to see Bohs play in the early to mid 80s with my da, Jackie stood out as a player who could do things that nobody else could. Occasionally this led to others on the Bohs team not being on the same wavelength as him and could also lead to crowd frustration with Jackie for trying the impossible when a simple ball would suffice. As a kid, I never understood Bohs fans criticising Jackie (although maybe now I would not be so sympathetic to a similar player!). But overall, Jackie was the most talented player I ever saw playing at Bohs. That he stayed with Bohs at a time when Shamrock Rovers were running up huge debts by poaching all of our best players stands to him. He provided entertainment during some barren years for Bohs.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Cormac Murphy

Johnny Fullam nominated by Ray Reel

Jackie Jameson nominated by Derek Keating, Lucan
I believe Jackie Jameson is the best player to have ever graced a League of Ireland pitch. In the 12 seasons he played with Bohemian and St Patrick's Athletic he established himself as the one League of Ireland footballer of his time that many football supporters actually went to football matches to see. This was without doubt owing to his unique skills, his special temperament and his ability to entertain with very special displays and goals. In 1984, Jackie played so outstandingly well in both home and away games against the mighty Glasgow Rangers in the UEFA Cup. Although Bohemians were beaten, it was widely reported that such was the impact Jackie Jameson made on those games that Rangers' star full-back John McClelland was sold within weeks. Prior to his death, Jackie Jameson was honoured by being included among the best ever players to play at Dalymount Park.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Fergus

Jackie Jameson nominated by Nicky Murray (46), Brentford, London
Jackie Jameson was that rare type of player who had tremendous ball control that you don't see a lot of nowadays. He always seemed to have time on the ball and the vision to pick out a team-mate with a pass. I don't think he was a prolific goalscorer nor was he blessed with good looks or much hair, but if you appreciated skill on the ball, he had it. I had to temper my appreciation as I was a Rovers fan but his skill made my prejudices pale into insignificance. I have done a bit of coaching since leaving Dublin and I guess I have always encouraged kids to develop ball control and awareness of what is around them, maybe watching Jackie inspired me in part to believe that it is not all about fitness and 'playing the ball down the channels'. Jackie was a gem!

Jackie Jameson and Maxi McCann nominated by Paul O'Beirne
My nominee for best player at my club is Jackie Jameson. Best ever League of Ireland player Shamrock Rovers' Maxie McCann.

Jackie Jameson nominated by John Moore

Jackie Jameson nominated by Gerard Byrne
Simply the best player EVER to play LoI.

Johnny Fulham nominated by Robbie Delaney
As a Bohs fan I would have to say Johnny Fulham was the best player I ever saw in the LoI. Although we got him at the end of his career (he was also brilliant for some team called Shamrock something) he could read a game so well. He did not miss the pace he had not got (ala Mr McGrath). All in all a great player and league winners' medals with three clubs is not too bad.

Jackie Jameson nominated by Thomas Garry, Navan, Co Meath
Being a Bohs and eircom League fan since around 1971, I have had the pleasure of watching some fantastic players in our league. The most important player that Bohs have had for many years is our current 'Captain Fantastic', Kevin Hunt. Since joining Bohs in 1998, Kevin has been a huge driving force on the field and it is no surprise that our barren spell ended within a couple of years of his arrival. As regards the greatest player I have ever seen playing in the league, then for skill, poise and pure magic, it has to be 'The Great Man' Jackie Jameson, RIP. Jackie could have played in any league in the world, such was his skill. He didn't score ordinary goals. He could turn on the proverbial sixpence and could get such power in his shot, as I'm sure many keepers could testify to. We will never see his like again. Thanks for the memories Jackie.
