Runner’s World Review
Stable and smooth. The Ravenna has a Goldilocks quality: cushioned without being squishy, stable without being clunky, solid without feeling heavy. Version 6 is slightly less cushioned and less flexible than the 5. Tweaks to the upper mean that it better hugs the midfoot and holds the heel in place. "They protect your feet without seeming to slow you down," says Christopher Garges of Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.

We put each shoe through real-world usage and a battery of mechanical tests in our lab to provide you with objective — and exclusive — data. In addition to a shoe's weight, we measure sole thickness (everything that sits between your foot and the road), how well the foam cushions your stride, and the flexibility of the forefoot. All this is taken into account in our reviews of each shoe.
