Structure of News
Structure of a news story News is reported from the most important "who, what, where, when, why, and how" of a story to the least important so that the public does not have to wait to learn the most crucial facts.
Which facts might be most important to tell readers right away? Which could wait until the end of the story? Why?
Example:
When you watch, listen to, or read news reports of a disaster, what facts and details do you expect the reporter to include? What specific details and facts would you expect in a breaking news story ? Make a list of facts about the size of the earthquake and its damage to speculation on what types of people reporters might interview, etc.
