    Information design tool is a new modeling tool for semantic layer that enables you manipulate metadata from relational and OLAP sources, and to create and deploy SAP Business Objects universes. Classic universe features available in Universe Designer have been redeveloped and incorporated in the information design tool. Quick Design Wizard When starting the universe design tool, it prompted by the quick design wizard to create a new universe file. We can use the wizard to build relational or OLAP universes. In the information design tool, creating a relational universe is a four step process 1. 2. 3. 4. Creating a project Creating a relational connection (*.cnx) Creating a data foundation (*dfx) Creating a business layer (*blx)

    Creating a OLAP Universe is three step process, as shown in the figure. Import & publish In the Universe design tool, the import option allows you to import a universe from a repository location only. In the information design tool, the import option is referred to as retrieving a universe, and allows you to retrieve a published UNX file and the corresponding connection, data foundation, and business layer resources from either a local or repository location.
