Objectives
At the end of this module the participant will be able to: Successfully commission & integrate the Flexi EDGE BTS
(modules, cabling, antennas and radios) must be complete. Make sure you have a PC with Nokia Flexi EDGE BTS Manager installed. Make sure you have a 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet cable available for the connection between the BTS and your PC. You need to have the parameter values available that need to be entered during commissioning. The parameter values are provided by the network planning process. BSC settings: the BTS site must already be created at the BSC for commissioning to be successfully completed.
BSC and the BTS must already be set up so that there is a transmission path from the BSC to the BTS for all the Abis channels. If there are any intermediate transmission hubs between the BSC and the BTS, the cross connections in the hubs should either be set up at the E1/T1 link level, or at the n x 64 kbit/s level for all the channels to the BTS in an E1/T1 link. With the Flexi transmission interface Flexbus sub-module (FIFA), the transmission link will be established during commissioning.
If the Transmission unit type is FIFA, the IP settings of the PC should be as follows: IP address: 192.168.255.130 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.128 Default Gateway: none
In all other cases (IP setup is like for WCDMA BTS / AXC access)

Operational Functionality
The Flexi EDGE BTS can be seen as operational, if: Abis interface is connected Operational state is Working (seen from the BSC as WO) Local (BTS Manager) indications are: O&M Link Established BCF operational state: Supervisory all TRXs operational states: Supervisory Abis Loop Tests have run successfully TRX Tests have run successfully Test calls are successful The BTS is free of unexpected alarms Remote Management (BSC / NetAct) is working.
