    2 New positions available: Project Officer/Research Assistant

    Precision Engineering

    Positions description Two project officer/research assistant positions are currently available in the Division of Manufacturing Engineering, School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The successful candidates will join our team of scientists and researchers to work on research projects focusing on establishing novel material processing techniques using advanced mechanical machining or laser-based technologies. The projects are to be undertaken in collaboration with SIMTech (A*Star) within the Joint SIMTech-NTU Laboratory (Precision Machining). Responsibilities Prepare literature review and establish plans of experiments. Design jigs and fixtures and set-up experiments. Conduct material processing experiments and samples characterization. Develop and apply computational models to simulate the process. Analyze experimental results and perform theoretical and/or computational validation. Prepare reports and make regular presentations to project leader and collaborators.

    Requirements Bachelor's or masters degree in mechanical engineering, applied physics or materials science engineering. Interest for research and ability to pay close attention to details. Enthusiasm for learning and willingness to develop new skills to complete challenging projects. Strong background in mechanics and hands-on laboratory skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Candidate expected to meet qualifications to undertake PhD. Experience in material characterization and/or finite element modeling is an advantage.
