President's Message . . . Mitzi Ware

What a great start to the year! Our August General Meeting was very well attended. It was so good to see everyone and to present MOSD with a $25,000 check. At the September meeting we were able to HEAR and see once again why we do what we do for MOSD. Teresa Schwartz, along with Jonathan, Desiree and Nola Bawcum spoke to us not only about MOSD and how it changes lives so dramatically, but what their life journey has been like. My favorite part of the evening was asking Nola questions. She is precious!! Ok, I have another favorite, it was wonderful to have four visitors with us that evening and two have already joined! We have three exciting meetings coming up which you do not want to miss. The October meeting will be a blast with Amy Ford from LeBonheur giving us decorating tips for the Holidays. In November, we will once again be at MOSD for a Thanksgiving potluck feast. This is another way for us to connect with the children and staff that we love. For our December meeting, all I can say is WOW. The Peterson home at Christmas, along with all of our amazing Subsidium members, and the fun we will have with our white elephant gift exchange is something you dont want to miss. If you have not been to a meeting yet, let me please encourage you to come to at least one of these meetings. Show how much you care about Subsidium and MOSD. Also, EVERY MEETING is a chance to invite a potential member. Of course, the childrens Christmas party at is another great way to get involved and connect with the children and teachers. Our presence gives them so much encouragement and joy. Plus, you will be amazed at how much you receive. As a bonus, Santa Claus will be there! Now that we have finished another successful MOSD Golf Tournament, we can move forward to our annual Subsidium Rummage Sale. This event is one that everyone can help with. Be sure to set aside not only items to donate but also time to help during the Rummage Sale. This is our BIG Fundraiser for the year! No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. -- Aesop

Wow! What a busy - but fun - couple of weeks for MOSD! The Memphis Air Show in Millington.the 4th Annual Trigon Sports Golf Tournamentand the Mustangs of Memphis Mustang and Ford Showall providing funds and awareness of the inspiring mission of the Memphis Oral School. We have also been out in the community participating in the United Way agency fairs and meetings for companies such as International Paper, First Tennessee, Medtronic, MLG&W, and Pfizer, and giving tours of our school to numerous employee groups. Thats what development is all about! Introducing MOSD and developing new relationships with individuals and companies in the community as well as strengthening current relationships with our donors to increase support for MOSD. We do this through special events such as the golf tournament and upcoming SpeakEasy Gala, through information and stories in the monthly e -newsletter and other social media, through mailings, and most importantly, through personal invitations to visit MOSD and see the miracles that our amazing teachers make happen every day with these precious children. Many thanks to Subsidium for your generous support with event sponsorships, personal contributions, and volunteer time. I have really enjoyed my first few months at MOSD and getting to know and work with you. Now its on to SpeakEasy! Lets make it the best one yet!
