Students will be able to (Skills) Create an Animoto presentation to teach other students how to compare decimals. Create an Animoto presentation to teach other students how to add decimals. Create an Animoto presentation to teach other students how to subtract decimals.

Students will know(Knowledge) Read and write decimals to the thousandths place value using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form. Order decimals to the thousandths place value based on the numbers in each place value. Compare decimals to the thousandths place value.

Performance Task(s): Goal: Order decimals to the thousandths place value based on the numbers in each place value. Students will be able to add decimals up to the thousandths place value. Students will be able to subtract decimals up to the thousandths place value. Students will be able to read and write decimals to the thousandths place value. Students will be able to compare decimals to the thousandths place value. Students will be able to write the standard and expanded form of decimals.

Stage 3 Learning Plan


Learning Activities: The teacher will review place values with students. The teacher will review read and writing decimals with students. The teacher will review comparing decimals with students. The teacher will review standard and expanded forms of decimals. The teacher will review how to order decimals from least to greatest with the students. Students will work with a partner to create an Animoto presentation on how to compare, add or subtract decimals. The teacher will observe the students as they work to observe students understanding. .
Engage The teacher will show students an Animoto presentation on adding decimals.. Elicit - The teacher will review place values, reading and writing decimals, comparing decimals, ordering decimals, adding and subtracting decimals by asking students to come to the board and explain step by step the processes they use to answer the problem. Explore Students will be given logins for Animoto to create a presentation on how to read and write decimals to the thousandths place. Explain The teacher will discuss with each group how students can improve their presentations to make them appealing and more effective in teaching the material. Elaborate & Extend Students will be given logins for Animoto to create a presentation on comparing decimals, adding decimals, or subtracting decimals.

Evaluate - Students will present their Animoto presentations to the class. Students will be graded on their presentations using a rubric.
