(ii) Whether the curved surface is convex or concave. b) What are interferometers? Explain working of any one Interferometer. 4. a) Staten the principle of operation of Mechanical and Optical comparators. b) Describe with a neat sketch construction and working of an instrument used for measurement of surface roughness. 5. a) Name the various types of pitch errors found in screw threads. Describe their effects on the effective diameter. b) Name and describe the following methods of measuring the major diameter of external threads: (i) using ordinary micrometer (ii) Using bench micrometer. 6. a) What is meant by alignment tests on machine tools? Name the various instruments required for performing alignment tests on machine tools. b) Describe the following tests on shaper: (i) Trueness and parallelism of vertical ways (ii) Straightness and flatness of the table
