Bentley School is encouraging every student to "Spring Into Fitness" during Spring Break! We have posted a tness log on the Bentley homepage to complete during the break. Students that return the log completed on April 28th will be treated to a Kickball game outside to celebrate their commitment to staying healthy and active! Please consider participating and have a healthy Spring Break! 6th grade will be taking three eld trips the week we return from Spring Break. A slip was sent home for all 3 trips. Please sign the slip and return it with payment as soon as possible. Registration for 2014-2015 is now being accepted through PowerSchool. Please login and register your student for next year. It takes a few moments. You may even defer payment. Children are not included on class lists for the next school year until they are registered. Thank you! Please make plans to attend the Bentley Elementary School Lupus Fundraiser at Chicago Dough on May 8th at Chicago Dough from 4:30 - 9 PM. The kids have worked extremely hard on making posters, writing letters to numerous local businesses asking for donations for our rafes, and making lupus bracelets to sell at the Lupus Walk. ! A portion of the buffet sales on May 8th will be donated to our Lupus Charity. To the Parents of the Martino Junior!High Class of 2016 - We would!like to invite all 6th!grade parents to attend a Parent Step Up Night on Monday, April 28th, from 6:00-6:45 PM. !This event will provide an overview of the junior high experience as well as a tour of the building led by current Martino students. !This night is designed for parents only. !If you are unable to attend the Parent Night you will be able to!access a copy of the powerpoint presentation on the Martino website on!April 29th. The!Class of 2016 will be visiting Martino on Wednesday, April 30th!to receive information on electives and all Martino has to offer them!
MR. RAKOCZY Rakoczy Language Arts: ! This week, we worked with Scholastic's StoryWorks. ! We read a high interest, non-ction story about the decline of sharks due to hunting. ! !Our target skills were vocabulary, nding text evidence, and summarization. ! We also wrote persuasive essay about the penny. !Each student had to decide if we should keep or remove the penny from circulation and provide three pieces of evidence to support their belief. !Next week, we will return to StoryTown and begin reading a new novel. ! Rakoczy Social Studies. ! This week, we began studying Ancient Greece. ! We will continue learning about Ancient Greece when we return as well.
MRS. VOSS This week in math we did a short review of ratio and rate, and then nished up with identifying and solving proportions. !We also began our scale drawings after learning about how actual distances or dimensions can be reduced or enlarged and be represented using a scale. Students have started the process of drawing grids on their pictures and will begin recreating their enlarged version after break. In addition to the scale drawings, we will also be working on percent of a number and the percent proportion.
MS. RUHL The students nished their speeches this week! ! I was very impressed with their speech techniques. !After we return from break, we will start reading our last novel. !We will pair the novel with some nonction material about the Middle Ages. !Have a great Spring Break!
