u n original puppet show will
be one of the main attractions
at the rr;l Fun Festival which
is scheduled for ,'.pril 2nd at
the Chugiak Ca.rnival Hall be-
ginning at noon and lastingun-
til 8 pm.
The puppet is the pro-
ject of Miss 5B
class, and is from beginning
to end the of the
youngsters own skill and im-
agination. The fifth graders
have made their own puppets,
written the script, painted
the.- scenoq; and arc directing
the shO\\'. It whou I d be well
worth seeing.
Other classes arc busy ar-
ranging their work schedules
wctb a job for everyone.
The 83 class has taken ch-
arge of the refreshment stand
and plan to sell hot-dogs,
coffee, pop and donuts.
:.11 classes arc malting their
own posters and competition is
quite keen.
This promises to tic fun for
- the '"hole family and an affair
that no one will want to miss .

pumper and the tanker and

Ft. Richardson answered the
call. Both of these fire de-

ficient to save the main part
of the Trading Post from the
fire, however the garage, a
frame structure was completely
destroyed.
The building belongs to
Jim McDowell,(who now resides
in Homer} but at the present
time service station, shop &
cafe is being leased and

Property loss consisted of
hand and machine tools belong-

of Birchwood, which was in the
shop for repairs at time
None of the service station

loss was partially covered by
insurance.

Two pieces of equipment re-
sponded and 14 Firemen.
One each piece of equipment
from Fairview and Richard-
son assisted in fighting fire.
Blaze confined to automotive
shop which was completely de-

third to Elvie Brinson and
Sherry who tied with
68 seconds and fourth to
Cyd Brinson \Y'i th 73 seconds.
Prizes for the winners
were donated by Don's Chem-
ical of Anchorage. To the
first place winners in each
group \ient 50 pounds of dog
fooJ and t o each second and
third place winner 25 pounds.
These races are open to
any youngster interested in
participating.

DRIVE
The March of Dimes Drive.,
which was conducted at the
Chugiak School recently net-
ted a total $238.34
This is an average of $12.
50 per room.
The highest amount collected
in any one classroom was Mr.
Veach seventh graders who
totaled $26.04; while the
graders in Bucj:y r.:orscs

classroom led a close second
with $25.50.
Veach headed the school
drive assisted by the follow-
ing pupils; Chariman, Eileen

rigerator by the Valley Hosp-
ital has made it
possible to start a blood bank
at the Presbyterian
Hospital.
This will -grently facilit-
ate the giving of transfus-
ions, which in the past meant
rounding up enough donors with
the proper type of blood at
the time the transfusion was
