    Audience Research

    This part of my audience research entails finding the target audience for my
    magazine and understanding what they would like to get of my music
    magazine. I did this through using social media like WhatsApp, Facebook,
    Snapchat and Instagram; I also had a survey on survey monkey and used word
    of mouth to reach the audience and gather my research.

    1. Would you prefer a male or female on


    the front cover?
    Majority of the people who took my survey said theyd
    rather see a female as the main image and the others
    did not mind. It appears as not many people were
    particularly in favour of a male specifically as the main
    image.

    2. What's the first thing you notice on a


    magazine front cover?
    The main image is a very important part of the magazine front
    cover, it helps with the selection of the magazine this is proven
    through my research. I found that the main things that lure people
    into purchasing the magazine is colour theme, main image, sell
    lines and free gifts.

    3. Does the masthead affect


    your decision to buy the magazine?
    Initially I believed the
    masthead is one of the main
    attractions to a magazine
    according to the research from
    my survey the audience are
    not always lured in by the
    magazines masthead.

    4. Would you rather more texts or more


    visual images?
    From my
    research I have
    gathered people
    would rather not
    be overloaded
    with text I would
    rather have more
    images that text
    or have it
    levelled.

    Most Urban music magazines usually have 3-7 sell lines around
    the magazine the majority of my target audience would like to
    see the same on my front cover too.

    7. Would you pay over 2 for a music


    magazine?
    Many urban music magazine range from 2 to 3.99 taking this into
    consideration I asked the audience if they are likely to pay over 2 for a
    magazine however the majority answered no.
