Joint Statement expressing our understanding of

what is required for the ICT integration project:

As future teachers we believe that it is paramount that Information
Communication Technology (ICT) is present in the classroom for
many different reasons. ICT is continuously expanding and
progressing in our society, changing the way people communicate
and learn. The Melbourne Declaration on the Educational Goals for
Young Australians recognizes that in a digital age, and with rapid
and continuing changes in the ways that people share, use, develop
and communicate with ICT, young people need to be highly skilled
in its use (MCEETYA, 2008). It is imperative that we as teachers are
able to give students the skills and knowledge needed to use
technology appropriately and successfully in their daily life.
Technological change in education means we are facing the largest
transformation in how our students receive, interact with, and
respond to the learning experience (Department of education,
2010).
Information Communication Technology can be used in the
classroom in many different ways. A teacher can use ICT for
personal teacher use, for example there are many programs and
applications that allow teachers to keep track of students
development and educational progress. There are also many
programs for class lists and assessment records, along with
formatting and designing interactive programs for the students. ICT
can be prevalent in the classroom, and it is important that teachers
know how to use these technologies in order to plan, adapt and
integrate a successful ICT program for the students.
The aim of this ICT integration project is to get students actively
engaged in a range of different ICT materials in order to enhance
and assist the learning experience. By using a range of fun,
interactive and meaningful activities the students will be able to
explore and use the ICT to assist them with the learning experience.
It is in our best interests to ensure that the students are taught how
to use the ICT correctly and appropriately in order for the students
to use the technology to its full potential.
The integration project should:
Integrate ICT into the curriculum
Encourage ICT to be used collaboratively as thinking tools to
solve problems
Engage students in content in an interesting, novel and
exciting way.
We aim to achieve these goals in our lessons by using a range of
different ICT devices in an English lesson. We will do this by planning
4 individual English lessons, based on the letters of the alphabet. All

lessons will come together cohesively building on the previous

lessons, with a particular focus of integrating ICT. The lessons that
are planned are fun and engaging, focusing on using ICT both
individually and collaboratively. Some of the ICT that we have
planned to use are the Interactive Whiteboard, iPads, Metal
detectors and many more.
