Design Name: Angie Guo Grade: 8 Date:11/8/2014: That Condition in A Way That Is Beyond The Gift of Even A Thousand Words

Angie Guo is researching whether "a picture is worth a thousand words" by creating emoji for school events. Her research plan is to create ideas in class, search for emoji pictures online, and design emoji in class. She believes images can convey deep emotions and information more powerfully and memorably than words. Primary sources suggest images can express experiences beyond words. Angie proposes creating emoji to efficiently communicate feelings when typing is difficult. She will design her emoji on a yellow background the size of an A4 paper.

Inquiry question: 1.how do I know that the saying a

picture is worth a thousand words is true?
Problem: we dont have emoji and emoticon for
specific events?
Solution: We have to create the emoji for school
events?
Research plan:
Create the plan in class and research some questions. We
can search emoji picture at home. Also we can do research
at home. And create emoji at class.
Explain and justify: I think is true. As humans the photo
will let us feel excited and happy and sad. Image can
warn us or give us clues to remind us. The image can
attract your eyes, mind and hearts. It let think about it.
Power images have over the human mind and proper use
of them can convey deep emotional connections. The
image is strong visual style. Its can improve readability.
Also picture is a powerful way of conveying complex
information in succinct and memorable way.
Primary source: the book cover drawn by a 10 years old
child with autism. His drawing is express something of
qualitative impairments that condition in a way that is beyond
the gift of even a thousand words.

Why should we make emoji?

Where do we use
emoji?
we use the emoji time will be less than the time we typing.
There is emoji when u really dont know what to say, then
u can use it. emoji is kind of language. Visual expression
stronger than words. It can let u think about many ways.
Emoji have many style. Like happy, heart, cry, animal and
scream face. Use emoji is brief than words. Because emoji
also can expression what u want to say. When u use
Facebook or some chat software. Than you can use emoji
to talk with friends Emoji can be every used. I also used
emoji to my friends like smile to them and hug. This is can
not use words to replace. Emoticons and emoji are
changing the way we communicate faster than linguists
can keep up with or lexicographers can regulate.
Resources: Studies suggest that women account for a
disproportionate amount of emoticon use.
Resources: Emoji come from japan. In 1999, cellphone
users in japan
Were increasingly using picture message to communicate.
And In the 1950s, Concentration camp survivors of world
war ii named Charles happiness to design a set of
symbols, and he wants to eliminate war by promoting the
communication between people of different languages.
Emoticon :
Scott Fahlman used the first emoticon ":-)" on Sep. 9,
1982.
Emoji: First introduced in DoCoMo i-mode but since
integrated into the mail and web services of all mobile
carriers in Japan
Design brief: I will choose yellow background. A size like
A4 paper
