Abortion1
Introduction

Abortion, by definition, is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy,

most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. (www.dictionary.com, 2015)
Abortion is a very touchy subject across political and religious lines. Most everyone takes a side
and decides to either side with the baby (Pro-Life) or with the right of the woman to choose(ProChoice). With both sides having defendable opinions on abortion, the focus of these groups
should be on the science that drives whichever decision being made with the pregnancy. Science
has evolved the medical procedures across the board in every area of health including abortion.
With this medical evolution, which has made it much safer, easier, and cheaper to have an
abortion, people must not assume that humans can keep up with rapid changes in medical
science.

The Physical Harm

What is the physical harm of having an abortion? People could be talking
about the baby or the mother of that baby, but in this case it is the mother. In the past, the mother
could have been driven to an out-of-the-way doctors office with the procedure being done by a
person who is not a doctor with a dirty hook (in other words a clothes hanger). In many cases,
the mother got serious infections, and in extreme cases she would have died. Even today with
how far science has come, having an abortion can still hurt the mother as much as it can hurt the
child in how some abortion are not even done by professional doctors but instead it being done
cheaper and faster by someone who is not qualified to do the abortion and could give the mother
internal harm which could result into death. Professionals can also give the women too much of
the abortion treatment and end up poisoning the women. It can make the women have more
harmful bleeding during her period for a long long period of time. The abortion can also give the

women over 100.4 fever. One of the worst effects are permanent damage to the womens internal
organs. These are very serious things people need to study and look into but an abortion should
be thought of taking place.(Orentlicher, D., 2015)

The Mental Harm

Mental harm of the women who have become pregnant and have decided to get an abortion
could be very harmful for her and also the people around her.The emotional side effects of an
abortion will change from one woman to another. Some women report a sense of relief after
having an abortion. The reasons for relief also vary from woman to woman. Abortion and
emotional side effect caused by abortion are just as real as physical side effects. Women who
have an abortion who believe life begins at birth will have a lesser chance of negative emotional
side effects. However, for people who believe it is a baby versus just growing tissue that person
are more vulnerable for negative effects. It is possible for anyone to experience an unexpected
emotional or psychological side effect following an abortion. Women commonly report that the
abortion procedure affected them more than they expected. Some individuals are more
susceptible to experiencing some type of emotional or psychological struggle. Probably the most
important thing a woman who is pregnant can do when facing an unplanned pregnancy is to
communicate with trained professionals who can answer that womans questions and discuss her
individual circumstances with her. If women are have an unplanned pregnancy, she might
withdraw from others to keep the whole pregnancy a secret a secret and try to face the issue
alone. Although it can be difficult, try to stay connected with family and friends who can support
the woman. Too much isolation under this stress can lead to depression. See if the woman can
find someone who has gone through an unplanned pregnancy or had an abortion to find out what
it was like for someone. (Constructing women as mentally troubled 2015)

The National Threat

An estimated 44 million abortions are performed globally each year, with slightly under half of
those performed unsafely. Approximately 205 million pregnancies occur each year worldwide.
Over a third are unintended and about a fifth end in induced abortion. The abortion clinic are
encouraging abortion more than ever. This is truly shocking come from a country called The
Land Of The Free when the country can not give freedom to babys before they are born.

Conclusion
The shear idea of an abortion needs to be non existent. Science has gone too far in the ethics of
abortion. It would be understandable to have an abortion if the baby were going to be a brain
dead vegetable when it was born but to kill off a child before it even has a chance of living its
life to the fullest is inhuman. Who are the people who encourage abortions to do this, people
have no right to take that child's god given right to life.
Which is most peoples views on the situation, people do not know of the physical and mental
effects it can have on a women. These effects could be a lifetime of mental and physical pain for
her or the people around her. With killing a baby before its born that family doesn't know of the
things that child to grow up to be for this national or even the world (Martia, L. 2015)
