Finding an Apartment Project

For this project, you will need to decide what features are important to you for finding your first
apartment. Imagine yourself ready to move out of your parents house or away at college and
needing a place to live. Where would you want to be? What things do you need and want in an
apartment? How much can you afford?
Background Answer these questions in complete sentences. Change your answers to
bold or another color
1. Where do you want to live and why? (City/country, what state/area?)
2. Will you be living with a roommate, multiple roommates, or alone? Why?
I plan on living with at least one roommate and up to as many as 3 because I dont
want to be living alone, well be able to split the expenses of the apartment and I
feel like it will be a good experience to live with other people.
3. What are the 5 most important features or amenities of an apartment for you? Use the PDF
Apartment Checklist for ideas and write 1 sentence for each to explain why it is important.
The five most important features or amenities of an apartment for me are that
there is heating and air conditioning, its nearby to restaurants and entertainment,
not a strict guest policy, safe area and a good amount of space. Its important to
have heating and air condition so that during the changing of the seasons the
temperature in the apartment is comfortable. Its important to be nearby
restaurants, public transit and entertainment so that I wont have to travel far
every time I leave the apartment for those things. Its important to me that there
isnt a strict guest policy that way my friends and family are able to visit me. Its
important for the apartment to be in a safe neighborhood because I want to feel
comfortable in my apartment, especially at night. Lastly its important that there is
enough space in the apartment because I plan on having roommates and I dont
want to apartment to feel cramped.
