Purpose of Checking
Accounts
1. Why do people have checking accounts? The main reason
for having a checking account is that no one wants to carry
all of their money in cash. It also makes paying your bills
easier and allows you to purchase things online.
Checks
1. Checks can be used for a lot of different thing. The first thing
that
comes to my mind is paying your bills. You can send hand
written
checks or send them electronically to pay for your bills. You can
also
write a check when buying groceries or if its someones
wedding.
Checks are usually written when you dont have large amounts
of
money on you.
How to deposit a
check.
1. Sign the back of the check.
2. Fill out a deposit slip.
3. Date- On the slip you first put the date.
4. Signature line- Then you sign your name.
5. Cash- Then you add the total amount of cash being
added.
6. Checks - Then you list each check being deposited
individually.
7. Total from other side- Then the total of all checks
being added listed on the back.
8. Subtotal- Then you add up the subtotal thats the
total amount of cash and checks.
9. Less cash received- Then you add up the amount
of cash back being received
10. Net deposit- Then you find the amount being
deposited, to do so you subtract the cash received
from the subtotal.
Debit Cards
1. A debit card is used to make payments on the go, like
plastic money. It is a way to make payments without
carrying cash on you. It also allows you to access your
checking account and deposit/withdraw money at an
ATM.
Pro Tips!
1. Dont give anyone your pin number
2. Dont use your debit card if you dont have money in
the bank
3. Make sure you end the transaction before walking
away from the ATM
4. Cover your pin number
