factually accurate narratives

Topic: Adopting Sinclair into the family

He came to BCS in 8th grade


Started out with the Dumas family
Lived in Kingsfield so we started giving him rides to school
Football
Came to us cause of sports
Started supporting him
Best friends with Tony
No dad, 2 sisters, mom
Needed support he couldnt find with his mom
Starting staying us and eventually just moved in
Everyone knew he was a part of my family
Became part of the family around his sophomore/junior year
Helped him through school and onto college and now he comes home to us
New Mexico Military Institute

Outline:
1. Opening up about 7th grade math class when Sinclair first came to BCS and was in my
class with Hunter Dumas, reflecting on how I did not know him then and the reality of he
would become one of the biggest parts of my family
Reflect from now to the past or start in the past and work to the present?

2. Introduce the importance of sports specifically football in my family flashback to PAL


and the way it impacted me and the way it has formed my views on race
3. Explain how he lived right by us and became friends with tony so we started giving him
rides to school and from football. His sophomore year still reflecting on past, in past
tense
4. Sophomore and junior year he started becoming part of the family
5. Tonys senior year, Sinclairs junior year
6. Sinclairs senior year when Tony was in college he stayed with us and it was basically
official. The New York trip! He is not legally adopted because he was 18 by the time he
was in our family.
7. Start bringing it into the present my senior year to now. His first year at NMMI, he
surprised me coming home for Christmas 2 days before he was supposed to be home
8. Conclude with the importance of family and how it would not be the same without him
(little sidenote of how we are basically The Blind Side)

Family is forever. Family is bonded by love and no matter what those are the people one
is stuck with for a lifetime. My family includes numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, two
grandmas, one grandpa, a mom and dad, and two brothers. A common first question is, how
old are your brothers? The answer, is they are both 20. Which what typically follows is, oh so
are they twins? That answer is no, one is biological and one is not. And so the explanation
begins.
