SUMMARY

The novel is about a single mom, Denise


who has a boy with learning
disabilities.One day she has an accident
and a man saves her. Her son,named
Kyle,is missing and a volunteer fireman
rescues him.They start to fall in love
with each other soon after the
accident,and Denise helps Taylor to get
over his problems about his father
death.

CHARACTERS

Denise-she is the mother of a child who has severe


problems,he cant talk properly and cant learn as
fast as the other children do. She dedicates her
entire life taking care of his boy and teaching him
everything
Kyle-he is a very intelligent boy, despite his
learning difficulties.He listens to his mother and
sometimes he says he wants to go to school, but
he knows he cant go to a normal school.
Taylor-he is the volunteer who saved Kyle when his
mother had the accident.He became friends with
Kyle and spent a lot of time together after the
accident.

WHAT I LIKED THE MOST

The book was one of the best I have read, it


shows the devotion of a mother who knows
that her child would never be normal, like
other children, but she continues to act like
everything is ok around him, telling him he is
the best in everything he does and he is the
most wonderful little boy. Even if she has
times when she cant handle it anymore,
looking at Kyle gives her hope.

INSPIRATION
All of his novels were inspired by members of
family.He said that The rescue was the
most challenging one to write because it was
inspired by his child, who is retarded with
attention deficit disorder.
