PRESSURE VESSEL VOLUME CALCULATION

FOR SINGLE BOOSTER PUMP

A. OPTIMUM FLOW REQUIREMENT

FIXTURES QTY L.UNIT TOTAL L.UNIT
BATHTUB 2 2 4
WASH BASIN 2 1 2
KITCHEN SINK 1 2 2
TOTAL LOADING UNITS 8
SO, FLOW RATE (Q), FOR 8 LOADING UNITS AS PER TABLE 3 - 6 = 0.44 Lit./sec.
Or = 26.4 L /Min.
B DUTY OF THE PUMP : = 90 L/Min. @ 2 Bar
PUMP START AT = 1 BAR
PUMP STOP AT = 3 BAR

C CALCULATION OF THE TANK CAPACITY

Q = 26.4 L/Min
Z max. = 20 ( Times of Pump start in an hour )
Pp = 4 BAR ( Absolute pressure of Pump stop )
Pa = 2 BAR ( Absolute pressure of Pump start )
Pc = 1.8 BAR ( Absolute pressure - Preload of the Tank Pa - 0.2 )

SO, TANK CAPACITY V = 16.5 X Q X Pp X Pa

Z max ( Pp - Pa ) Pc

= 16.5 X 26.4 X 4 X 2 = 48.4 Liters

20 ( 4 - 2 ) 1.8

Tank Section is = 50 Liters

D CALCULATION OF THE NECESSARY VOLUME

WATER STOCK AV = V X Pp - Pa
Pp

= 48.40 X 4 - 2 = 24.2 Liters

4
So, Water Stock as per
Tank Selection = 50.00 X 4 - 2 = 25 Liters
