PROCEDURE
Introduction: 1 min
Hook/Attention Grabber: What do we throw? (understand application of lesson) What are the health benefits of throwing?
Assessment of Prior Knowledge: Go over 3 types of sending from previous lesson
Agenda: Introduction, Warm up, Explanation and demonstration, Practice, Assessment, Game, Closure
Transition to Body: Tell me different things and ways you throw something? Now with a partner experiment different ways
Body: 41 min
Learning Activity #1: Explanation and Demonstration
We will be working on 4 types of throws today, right handed overhand, left handed overhand, right handed underhand, left handed
underhand. Demonstrate each one with key points verbalized.opposite hand opposite foot..point at target..follow through
Learning Activity #2: Practice
With a partner practice each throwing technique back and forth (ROH, LOH, RUH, LUH). Key Points : opposite hand opposite
foot..point at target..follow through
Learning Activity #3:Assessment
With your partner practice each throwing style into the bucket, count how many successful overhand and underhand throws you had
(make sure you have an equal amount of attempts with both hands). PARTNERS be watching each others form on throws, offer
advice related to the key teaching points
GAME: Spud- each get a number, all stand in the middle, throw ball up and call a number, that person grabs the ball while everyone
else runs away, when have possession of ball call spud and everyone running must stop, ball holder gets 3 steps and has to underhand
throw at another player who is not allowed to move their feet to dodge
Closure: 2 min
Consolidation/ Assessment of Learning: Did you have fun? Would you do it again? Participation 1-5
