Making Education Work

Campaign Backgrounder
Mission:
The energy and generosity of the Simmons community is propelling the landmark Making
Education Work Campaign toward the June 30, 2015 finish line with a record level of
philanthropic support for the College. By keeping the Campaign momentum going right through
June 2015, the community will help ensure Simmons has that many more resources to put to
work for scholarships and enhancements to our academic program.
About:
The Making Education Work (MEW) Campaign is the largest fundraising initiative in
Simmons history. Initially the campaign aimed to earn $85 million by June 30, 2015. However,
they have far exceeded this goal and are now aiming to earn $100 million.
MEW has impacted students across campus. The philanthropy plays a very important role
in preparing students for meaningful lives and careers. Gifts can vary in monetary value, ranging
from $25 to multi-million dollar commitments. By becoming part of this campaign, donors
simply make education work for students at Simmons College. Without it, opportunities and
even enrollment could very well be impossible. According to the Simmons website, this
campaign aims to raise funds in order to help Simmons transform lives and inspire leaders to
influence our community and the world.
Accomplishments:
Gifts are given that can be awarded to multiple areas. These include the Simmons Fund,
Leadership Gifts, endowments, and unrestricted gifts. Funding for sports, study abroad, tuition,
programs, and Simmons College facilities for students, faculty, and events, are all made possible
through the MEW Campaign.
