I live in Montana vista a small town not known too many people.
Even in such a small scale town you see many discourse

communities. The peoples way of thinking, goals, values, media and language all affect the community. Most people in the
community go by every Day unaware that theyre involved in the discourse community because its part of their everyday routine.
Each social group has a different requirement in order for you to be in that community. Each community has a different
way of achieving their goals. Each community has a different method of communicating. The church communicates through prayers,
lectures from the bible and a website. The language used by the church is kept simple so that its easy to understand no matter your
background. The convention of this community is usually set by the bible and the priest of that church. When you join this group it
allows you to become a member and share their beliefs and activities that the church portrays. Doing this also allows the church to
help you in any emotional and moral support. Its good to have these kinds of supports because they help you accomplish and achieve
your goals. You joining the group is also good for the community because you also help them set and accomplish more goals. The
church also helps collect items for the people that are in need like clothes, food, and school supplies etc. the audience of the
community would be the priest, and anyone who attends the church. The church has done a lot for the community and the people in it
as well, they have helped speed up the construction of the sewer system in Montana vista.
Small businesses are also a part of the discourse community map and they help out in various ways. They help out with the
interaction of the people, development, values, and creation opportunities. They not only provide jobs but teach you and make you
experienced in many things. Small businesses also provide a chance for teens to make money while they are going to school or after
they graduate. You can become a member of this group by either applying or becoming employed or by consuming from the
businesses. This community tends to use a small and simple language so that everyone can understand easily. They will use signs
labeling items in both English and Spanish so that you may read if u cant in English. The conventions of the small businesses are set
by the state and the companys guidelines. The managers enforce this guideline and make sure all the employees are following it. Most
of the businesses have values in satisfying their customers needs and making them comfortable. There is many stores in the small are
Montana vista, dollar general, dollar tree, el zape, and barbershops. There is also daycares and they help out in a big way because they
provide a place for parents to leave their kids while they go to work. All these places are used frequently because they are way more
convenient than driving to the city and wasting more gas. When people use these stores it also helps them help out the community in
return by helping expand and making more stores in the area.
School is one of the major discourse communities and the one that the future of the community is involved in. the audience of
the schools would be the parents of the kids, the students, and the staff of the schools. The convention of the group is the further
educate the minds of the students and to help make sure theyre reader for the future. Most of the parents like to be involved in their
kids activities so their always up to date with anything that is coming up. The schools have things likes parades, meetings, games and
the parents attend all of them to be involved with the community. This also shows people how to work well with one another.
Communication is through written assignments, books, fliers, announcements, bulletin boards, emails, conferences, test, letters, and
conversations. Depending on the situation they use a different method. The convention of the group is established by the state school
boards. The schools and the staff just ensure the students follow and learn what they want them to teach. There are many requirements
to maintain while going to school in the area. They have strict dress code and no tardiness tolerance. The goals of the schools is the
prepare your for the future and to further expand your knowledge. Depending on your age the convention is different because the
school is preparing you for a different level of education. Elementary teaches you basics and how to develop your skills while middle
school begins teaching you how to interact within groups and communicate, high school teaches you how to be independent. The
reason schools have a big impact is because most people in the area graduated from here.
But by far the most important discourse community is family. This is the first group and discourse community you are
introduced too. Since you are an infant you are a member already. You can either be born into it or adopted, even marrying someone
from the family makes you a member of the community. A lot of the people in the area have a strong bond because family is such a
high value that most people are related in a way. The way we communicate is by text phone calls and by short simple conversations.
The values and goals of the family is to be respectful and supportive, and to get a better education of life. Each family has a different
set of values, goals and traits depending on how they were raised.
The discourse community is very active and supportive of one another everyone is always trying to help each other out.
