The Magic Wolf

This pack lived in a dense forest that was never named, most wolves just called it the
Dense forest.
Sparkle was a nice young wolf, she did all the hunting in her pack with her best friend
Velvet. They were a very focused pair, and always completed tasks together.
They were closely related as well, Sparkles mother had been best friends with Velvets
mother and soon took her in after Velvets mom had started to froth at the mouth and
treat Velvet horribly.
Sparkles name was special. She was named after the mysterious sparkles that were on
her forehead and blended in with her flank fur. She had tried to solve the mystery of her
unexplained sparkles, but she had failed every time. It seemed as if she should have
powers or wings, something like that. She fought to keep her mind off it as she led her
everyday life.
Velvet, is a loving friend who only tells Sparkle her secrets, and just loves to help
out Sparkle, Velvet always wondered about Sparkles sparkling fur, for shed never ever
seen a wolf of such beauty.

On a lovely summer morning I woke to a start. A crash had erupted throughout
the canyon walls, causing my heart to skip a beat. Velvet awoke to it too and stared
tiredly and confused at me.
Dont look at me like I know what that was! I said looking about.
I wasnt.
That was really weird lets take a look. I suggested.
Uhh, no! We could be killed. Velvet exclaimed worry flashing through her eyes.
She sat up straight in what looked like shock.
You dont have to go. I stated.

I wont. if youre not back in an hour I'm going to freak out. she said upsetly
stomping a paw down.
Okay cool. see you.
I didnt want to leave my warm and soft rabbit pelt bed, but the odd event drove
me to curiosity and I lifted myself off the bed and out of my den, towards the canyons.
What could that noise have been?
I searched the canyon high low, but didnt get lost, I knew this territory like the back of
my paw pad. About half an hour later I finally gave up and ran home, and I really didnt
want to miss breakfast or encounter one of Velvets freak outs.
Oh thank the sky dogs! Youre back late. Velvet said worriedly.
I was gone a half an hour. Come on your anxiety is just getting worse. I stated,
rolling my eyes, I instantly felt a little bad for the comment.
Okay well maybe you were early then . . . Velvet tried.
Yeah. there ya go. I said laughing.
I then caught the wonderful scent of fresh deer. I had not gotten to hunt and I
knew the leader would wonder to Me.
Sparkle, girl did you hear that this morning. Leader asked me.
Yeah! did others notice? Because, I went down to the edge of the canyon and
there was nothing there. No trace of an earthquake, nothing. I Answered.
That is so bizarre, wed better watch out. from now on if you hear that eruption
again you come and get me, okay? Leader said seriously.
What if you dont hear it . . . I might scare you awake and ill be dead meat in five
seconds, from what ive seen you do in your sleep. I wondered
there was a long pause, Leader look confused, shocked, and silly for a second.
Am I really that bad? He asked.
I nodded my head slowly.
Anyway, fresh deer. Come eat before the selfish ones take your share. He
suggested.
I gulped down my share and went to find velvet wolfing down her's nervously.
What now? I asked annoyed.
I thought . . . someone might ummm take my food. She said looking guiltily at
me.
Really? seriously? I said giving her the what the heck, come on! look.
Yeah . . . She said sighing.
You have seriously gotta stop. If I go somewhere overnight you wouldnt live an
hour then die of fear. You gotta be brave Velvet. Now come on, lets go bring down a big
moose! I said trying to lighten Velvet up a little.
The moose will-
VELVET! SERIOUSLY!
But-
NO YOURE COMING!
Fine
I ran off with Velvet close behind. We ran till we found a small herd of deer, we
stopped, stalking low in the grass.
Ready to bring down that moose? I Whispered happily.

No. . . Velvet shook.

You better be. I said and shoved Velvet into the clearing.
She had no choice but to bring down the deer with little help from me. On our
way home everything was silent, until the end.
You know youre a really good hunter. I said leaving out the youre too scared
part.
You think? Velvet asked her shining blue eyes looking into mine with joy.
I know. I stated wagging my tail I was glad I was throwing her a little confidence.
But-
No buts you just have to overcome your fear-
We were cut short by a earsplitting eruption, and the ground shaking.
This is not an earthquake! Velvet said.
Lets go! I said in a reasonable tone so I didnt make Velvet freakout.
we ran to the pack which had gathered in a protective circle around the youngens.
Sparkle, Velvet come here, quickly. Leader called.
We ran to the protection circle, both of us knowing this formation wouldnt work.
The ground continued to shake destroying Leaders cave and hurling dust and
rocks into the air. After a long while the shaking stopped, the mothers grabbed their
pups and started to clean the dust and debris off of them.
leader came running over to Velvet and I.
Do you know anything about earthquakes? He asked worriedly.
Yup, thats where my parents went . . . I said solemnly looking down at my
paws.
Yeah, we were both in the same little pack before this one. Our parents took the
path of death through an earthquake. Velvet said seeming more shocked than sad.
And ill tell you, uhh that was not an earthquake. I added almost sternly.
Well, wed better take the pack somewhere safer. Leader said.
I hope you know that earthquakes go far distances. Velvet said.
Then well leave now. He said looking back and forth at them hurriedly
Both I and Velvet nodded, remembering the miles and miles of horrible
devastation caused when they were little pups.
So, we should go. uhh like now. Leader said.
Isnt that what I said. I said.
Leader ran forward spreading news.
Come on everyone, he said then looked toward us. What is the matter with you
two come on now! he urged.
I'm staying. Velvet said planting her paws heavily against the ground.
Me too. this place holds my life, my memories and I'm gonna live my life of
memories even if some are crushed under walls of fallen rock. even if food leaves from
here. there will always be the burrowing prey. I stood proud.
You two are totally crazy. if you live- well uh- I mean come visit us! well be in the
southern border. Leader said eyeing them both like they were insane macaws
repeating and repeating the word cheese.
Velvet and I watched their pack run off, when there was only disturbed dust in the
distance we both hung our heads.

Lone wolves Velvet sighed and laid down uncomfortably.

Lone wolves? naw just determined. I said.
Then a sudden thought clicked into my mind. It wasnt a happy thought, but I felt
certain it was true. And to anyone, would sound crazy. . . but maybe Velvet would
understand she always understood me.
Hey uhh, Velvet. I started.
Hey uhh, Sparkle what now?. Velvet mocked teasing me.
You sound like me . . . so I might have figured out the shaking thats going on. I
said not looking into Velvets eyes.
How?! you didnt see anything did you? Velvet asked.
No, but I think I'm the one ca
using this. I
finally blurted out.
Oh Sparkle, no you didnt. . . I mean your-
We both barked.
SPARKLES!
We both sat speechless, confused and interested. But tails not wagging.
This is just getting weirder. I said looking awkwardly at Velvet.
Try to cause an earthquake. Velvet said standing.
What?! how am I supposed to cause a random earthquake? I asked.
Uhh, just try some things. she said.
I changed my mood to angry and stomped around. Nothing. I banged into a tree
and nearly knocked myself out. Nothing. And finally I gave up and slammed my paw
down in frustration. Now I seemed crazy to Velvet probably, but the ground shook
causing the trees, rocks, and plants before us to roar up in a small but shocking
earthquake.
Was that a coincidence? Velvet said exchanging odd glances with me.
Ill try it again. I said, nearly delirious.
I took a deep breath in and out then stomped my paw hard on the ground, again,
causing a small earthquake.
What?! No away. No wonder you have sparkles. Velvet cheered.
but, my mind was set on something else.
But, why did I cause random earthquakes? I asked.
They were both silent.
I dunno. Velvet said.
Maybe its because I uh, didnt know about my powers.
we both sat in confusion. Why was life so confusing anyway?
Then something dawned on me suddenly.
What if this is a sign, of something big. I need to protect our pack! I feel it. I said
looking toward the darkening sky.
What do you mean? velvet asked starting to worry.
Something big and bad is coming and ive got the powers to beat it and save our
pack. I answered quickly, eyes glowing at Velvet.
I see! lets find em, and fast. Velvet answered back.
We took off leaving a memory of dust behind us, we were on a mission and a
quite confusing one. but I knew, at least I thought I knew.

After running for half another sun, we saw wolves up ahead running, kicking up
dust. I gave an alert howl and they turned, stopping quickly.
is that them? Velvet asked turning worriedly to me.
I-i think. I said squinting.
Sparkle? I heard my name yelled, from one of the pack members.
Leader? I called back, head cocked in confusion.
an unfamiliar wolf ran up to us. she was shaggy andMother! I gasped.
It is you, oh my goodness Sparkle you live. Velvet! you to? the wolf asked.
Velvet nodded and nuzzled her half mother.
Mother I cant speak, theres too much to say. I said running into her mothers
chest, and crying in joy.
You have nothing to tell me, I love you, and thats the only thing that matters.
both of yall. mother said wagging her tail so hard, a sand storm almost erupted.
remembering my mission I gathered myself together quickly.
Okay mother Ill explain. I have powers, earth powers, its super odd. I can
cause an earthquake right here right now. and those earthquakes you guys might me
running from,
Mother nodded frightfully.
Well I caused them, I have to save my pack who fled and I know whats coming.
I said in one long breath.
What is coming? mother said clearly fearing the worst.
Something unthinkable, something that will destroy us all. Velvet cleared up.
Yeah, I can feel it. I shivered.
This is horrible, but can you help? mother asked a little confused.
Yeah, ive got powers. whatever it is I can beat it. . . but its gonna be deathly
hard. I said trying to speed things up.
Oh. mother said dumbfounded.
Yeah I know right?! Velvet said worriedly.
No time for i know rights! mother you must explain to your leader and we will
help. you guys follow me and Velvet and we are outta here! I barked, hurriedly.
Velvet and mother ran off to tell the leader while I tried to decode the worst
Something big is gonna happen and we're all gonna die unless I save every . . . single .
. . wolf . . . were the words that rang loudly in my head.
Mother returned on her own running fast.
Velvet has confirmed with the leader, now my own little pup, must lead us
somewhere safe. Mother barked.
The two of them went to the pack. I met Velvet at the front.
Sparkle,
I turned to face a strong looking wolf, obviously the leader.
I trust you, youre mother is strong. I know you are to. he said.
thats kick-started me right away.
me and Velvet ran on through the sun and moon, until we caught up breathlessly
to our pack.
Sparkle, Velvet! this is a miracle. Leader said.

Ive got no time to explain, we gotta find a safe place. I ordered, at my very own
leader.
What? Leader asked staring blankly at the two of them.
Something big is coming and it will destroy us all, every single wolf. Velvet
cleared again.
Bout time you become leader. Leader said.
What, oh no i'm not leader but I am I helper,
i said proudly, quickly and forcefully snapping out of my happy mood.
NOW LETS GO! I urged.
The two packs joined and we set off to find a safe place.
Full moons passed and we had found many caves, none fit for safety because the dark
magic could catch us nearly anywhere for we had a stronger heart and muscle. Small
earthquakes erupted every now and then and startled everyone.
But the words kept running over and over in my head,
Something big is gonna happen and we're all gonna die. but I couldnt hold it back, I
was worried. And I felt despair and death closing in on the packs. I had to try
something,
I gathered the packs together and made them lay down beside me either it was try or
die.
I planted my feet in a stable position and closed my eyes only to re-open them with
power surging through me. I squinted my eyes filling my gut with a strong feeling filling
my whole chest and flanks. great iron walls rose from the ground circling us, invincible
iron to be specific. it closed in creating a large shield cave around the packs. I gasped
and shook out my power with a blink of an eye.
the packs stood mouths gaping, ears down tails tucked in. But only Velvet stood
wagging her tail almost in a wolfy grin.
Youre amazing! leader barked.
Just know this wont keep us safe. but I just found out I had powers. I
announced.
Youre truly amazing darling. Mother said snuggling me to sleep for nearly the
first time ever.
No you. She said back.
Velvet came in and snuggled to. and we all fell asleep in a pile full of warm memories.
in the morning everyone woke up to a horrible noise. the ground slid beneath us. and
before I knew it I was saving wolves with small hills of ground built by myself and
replacing missing spots with dirt.
the earthquake stopped leaving the wolves stunned and shocked.
this is too risky, i-i dont know what to do now. this might be too much for any of
us to live. I said worriedly to Velvet.
Velvets wagging tail drooped along with her ears.
What do you mean Sparkle? she asked.
Coming toward us is something I dont think anyone can beat. not even me. I
cant keep that up for very long. and what I just had to do is so small compared to this
death coming, no one will live. not even me Velvet. I said head down to.

Youre talking every little piece of stupid. you are ashaming us all! Velvet
snapped.
Dont you understand Velvet? I said starting to cry.
I dont because I believed in you. Maybe now I shouldnt have. because youre
just shame, and nothing. youre not even . . . a friend. she growled.
Wh-what? I asked looking at the pack getting closer.
Velvet is right. . . Sparkle, leave you arent welcome. Leader said.
You dont Understand! I cried, they needed me horribly, I even set my heart out
to everyone.
We dont. Leave! everyone shouted.
i left running for my life, never looking back.
i ran for moons until I found a dark cave, which I took as my own. I sat in shame, and
confusment. what had happened, why the sudden anger? I knew what was gonna
happen and no one would live, even she might not.
she wouldnt go back . . . never. she didnt eat for days. worrying through the earth
shakes that occurred every few hours. the skies got darker through the sun, dust and
dirt made breathing odd.
hours passed on a foggy day and I made a trip to the mountain to watch the sun go
down. as I sat I looked ahead where her pack had left her.
i suddenly gaped . . . my ears dropped beside my head and my tail tucked. everything
was uprooted, nothing but upturned dirt and rocks which had rolled from mountains. I
couldnt move, I knew if I went to the pack there would be no pack. sudden anger and
bravery passed through my body and into my heart. this was my fault and I was not
gonna stand it!
This is my fault and I'm gonna stand up and fix it. I growled to myself.
i tore up dust as I ran causing the ground to vibrate. I huffed through the dust and
jumped the fallen trees and wreckage.
as I recognized the spot where the pack should be I looked around, the world circling
around me. I looked everywhere for any sign or smell of a single wolf.
Velvet, Mom?! I called choking back tears.
i plopped down unable to go anywhere. when a sudden sound sound rattled through the
shaken earth.
i stood. the rumble grew louder. I could feel a powerful earthquake coming my way. I
growled and set loose a powerful earthquake myself, surrounding me. my quake beat
the other and I bolted, I ran as fast as I possibly could, up mountains and through
rubble. faster and faster I went up a huge hill. finally I collapsed, staring back where I
had come from.
and I couldnt help but give a piercing howl of hope and despair for my pack, my family.
my howl echoed through the hills. as I howled more in despair, a small golden string of
light started to circle me, creating light. my eyes grew wide, suddenly I was seeing a
picture of Velvet and my mother.
Velvet watch out! my mother was barking at Velvet, who narrowly missed getting
struck by falling rock.
Mom! Velvet cried.
mom . . . I choked, confused.

Youll always be my daughter even though you never knew till now. mother said,
cuddling Velvet like she did to me.
I sat staring in hurt.
Sparkle is though. shes your daughter. Velvet said staring into mothers eyes.
Sparkle never really stood up for anything, she did for herself but not for you or the
pack. Mother said.
I shrank, my heart shrank, my everything shrank, why was she saying this? was it the
confusion of why I left.
shes always been the boss. Velvet sneered.
a sudden crash rang through my mind as rocks fell in the picture. Mother and Velvet ran
as fast as they could toward a hill, where a glowing figure was. . .
everything stopped, this was happening now.
I stood bravely and hurt on top of the hill watching two wolves run toward me. I growled.
I was never loved, my whole life was one big lie.
I made myself glow creating my silhouette in the fog around me.
the wolves stopped.
Who-who is that? Velvets voice asked.
I-I don't know. mother said.
I blew away the fog with my mind. I stood clearly on the hill, fur blowing in the breeze.
Sparkle? Mother asked.
Sparkle! Velvet wagged barking.
Mothers tail wagged.
They ran up to me but stopped half way when they saw the look on my face. I stood
growling.
Sparkle, are you alright darling? Mother asked.
MOTHER?! I nearly spat.
both of them backed up a little bit.
Whats with you? Velvet giggled trying to laugh along.
I am no use to you two, why are you happy to see me? After all, I only stand up for
myself, ive always been the boss, I growled.
I-I Mother started looking at Velvet worriedly.
You d-dont love me, either of you. I said.
We do we were frustrated, about how you kinda just ran off. Velvet said.
Sounded a little too meaninful to be frustrated. I snarled back.
How do you know I said-we said these things? Mother asked.
Velvet hung her head low and replied,
Shes magic.
Mother looked from Velvet to me, with a shocking glance.
No, no way youre not, both of you are lying. she said back legs shaking.
Yes, she is. Velvet shot back.
Prove it! Mother huffed, acting like a disgruntled pup.
alright! I barked
Velvet and Mother watched wide eyed as I made my sparkles on my fur glow creating
light almost brighter that the sun.
H-how? Mother was giddy with amazement.
Magic. I answered smiling.

Youre amazing, I never should have said anything. nothing I said was true, nothing
Sparkle! Velvet cried and we nuzzled each other nicely.
Our friendship is stronger than I thought. I muttered in Velvets ear.
I know and ill never lose you again. she said back.
after a while all three of us rejoiced and howled happy howls. but I stopped early.
Where is the rest of the pack-packs? I asked looking around, sudden guilt powering
through me.
Here Sparkle. I heard.
I whirled around to see the two packs, now one, at the top of the hill.
Leader? I whispered.
Its leader! Velvet was delirious.
i didnt run up to him like mother and Velvet did. infact I shrank in submission. I couldnt
stand to lose a pack, I wasnt planning on being a lone wolf.
Sparkle, come here. Leader said, almost warmly.
I crawled belly on the ground near him.
We shouldnt have kicked you out, magic is dangerous and we all felt your magic, it
was overwhelming to us all we thought you might harm us all. Leader said.
i was confused, I knew magic is very dangerous but I was always loyal to the pack.
I'm sorry. I said head hung low.
No, oh no dont be sorry at all, it's merely our fault. really . . . Leader said crawling low
to me.
what was he doing? subbmissing to me, odd. he was the leader. . .
I want you to be our leader. he said nuzzling me onto my feet.
Huh? I asked backing up slowly.
You are our leader now, you understand the heart and leadership more than anyone
here. leader said still in submission.
I looked at Velvet.
Even me. she said smiling.
I looked to mother.
Me too. she said.
I whipped around to Leader.
I-I. I said for the first time, horrified.
It's not just because of the magic Sparkle. Velvet said.
the pack starred as I slowly started the leaders welcoming.
I stood over Leader and he rolled to his belly was facing up, the weakest part.
I cant believe I'm doing this. I thought to myself.
leader and I circled each other smiling and finally I worked up enough strength to end it
with a growl.
the pack howled happily. and rejoiced with a huge feast. even though my mind was
going to crazy I should have fainted by now.
You know, you will be the best leader in the whole wolf world. Velvet said and sat by
me to watch the sun go down.
Maybe . . . I said, sighing.
I have a question, but I dont want to ruin the night for you. she said not meeting
Sparkles eyes.
Nothing can ruin getting to be leader. I said to her.

Alright, she sighed deeply then turned to me with a worried glance.

Is the earthquake mess done, and your magic controlled? she said.
I dont know. I said sudden fright running through me.
I had forgotten everything about that. I knew suddenly it wasnt. how could it not? it was
ruining my life!
NO! its not! I bolted up right.
I gathered the pack together. So they all stood around me.
everyone, as you know a huge earthquake hit. but that was not the only one. I have a
way to feel one coming and one is coming soon. we must get somewhere safe. but I
need everyones help. I cant do this myself. does anyone know of somewhere safe and
secret? I asked hopeful.
A young female wolf with a black diamond on her forehead spoke up.
Secret meadow. I lived there before your mothers pack. it has no rocks, and few trees,
plenty animals for food, and a beautiful meadow. she said.
What is your name? I asked not recognizing her.
Diamond. I said.
Congratulations you get to be leader, and lead us there. I said smiling.
I had to do everything to assure the pack would make it. or I might doubt myself and
earn a horrid mind breakdown.
we left as soon as we had finished feasting. diamond turned out to be quite amazing,
she followed the sun and went by her heart. around when the moon came up, we
reached the meadow. it seemed unhurt, unlike the other places that the earthquake had
hit.
Wow Diamond what a place. I said as I picked a flower and put it by my ear. Velvet
and Diamond did the same laughing. I watched my sparkles glow with the reflection of
the sun, wondering if this place was magic.
i then gathered the pack.
We must not stray from here or else I might worry to death, and you might attract this
deadly magic that holds these earthquakes. I said sharply making myself very clear.
the wolves all nodded and began to play games or talk in the meadow, id never seen a
happier pack.
Diamonds you made the pack happier than ever! Velvet complemented as we walked
around.
We might not stay though. I said quietly, trying not to cause an uproar.
I know but I figured here was awfully safe. I know of many others, because I was a life
loner for a looong time. Diamond laughed.
Well maybe Diamond should be our pack navigator. Velvet said.
Yeah, okay Diamond you better do a good job. I joked.
we all laughed. I realized I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time
I'm excited to be in a top place on the leading scale. Diamond said grinning.
Well thing is is there is no place, its really just comunity. I said.
I know. she said.
Lets go catch a rabbit or two, maybe something bigger for the pack. I'm starving.
Velvet said.
You two go, I'm a little tired. I said faking a snore.
they laughed.

I cant imagine leading a huge pack like this one. Velvet said, and the two took off in
search of food.
as I slept that night I worried for a while about the magic I held. could I overpower the
darkest magic. could I win? most of all I didnt want my pack to fear my magic.
finally I slept. many bad dreams filled me with horrid thoughts. but I slept sound enough
to have energy.
I was the first to wake up. I guess being leader is hard.
as I walked around the packs sleeping circle I felt earthquake waves again. I planted my
feet quickly and woke the pack with a alarm howl.
Sparkle! Velvet said seeing worry in my eyes.
Stay still. I said.
the pack was still.
I sniffed the ground as the waves got closer. could I beat this one? id just have to risk it.
Sparkle. Diamond muttered shaking.
Its okay hang in there Diamond. I said.
we stood. I stepped back and sent an earthquake through the meadow. it barely beat
the other causing the ground to shake a little beneath us.
Whoa that was so freaking close. Diamond said her legs still shaking.
Youre like Velvet when she was with our pack back at home canyon, she had horrible
anxiety. I said smiling at Diamond.
Really? I have it to? Diamond asked.
yes, but I overcame it, see me now. I would be dead if Sparkle hadn't taught me to be
brave. Velvet said.
Diamond perked up a bit.
Can you teach me Sparkle? she asked.
In these hard times big scares will come out of nowhere. it will jump start you. I need to
be leader, protect everyone, so that you can get the chance to become a warrior
navigator. I said.
Does that mean you cant? Diamonds tail dropped.
Yes, but I know who can? I said eyeing Velvet.
Who? who could be as brave as you? Diamond asked, confused.
Velvet, shes had the talk and has had plenty of experience. I said.
I have really, and were friends right? Velvet said looking at Diamond.
Really?! Diamonds tail wagged.
Really, now you go be teacher, I said.
they ran off.
Just stay in sight. I cleared up.
they nodded and continued.
as I gathered the pack together everyones tails were wagging. they believed in me!
Glad I saved yall huh? I said.
everyone howled happily.
There is something I need to tell you guys. I said taking a deep breath.
Dont you dare back down again. Leader growled from the crowd.
i looked at him sternly, his tail was tucked.

there is a form of feeling called anxiety, it hurts you and makes you live in fear, and
anything that will jump start you aint gonna be a jump start. its gonna be a heart
attack. I said seriously.
Have you had it? Mother asked.
No, but I know Velvet has. she would take her breakfast to a log, squish inside, and
think someone was gonna take her food, I explained.
the pack looked almost sadly at me.
But theres a way to become a brave warrior. think about the pack, we work together.
no one would steal your food. and in those jumpstart situations. I'm here to help save
you, I'm on your side. now lets fight this magic together! I howled.
the pack went up in loud howls of joy and bravery. everyone looked relaxed and ready
to help out anyone and everyone.
all the howling called Velvet and DIamond back.
Whats going on?! Velvet said worriedly.
I gave em the talk. I whispered back.
Velvet and Diamond chuckled and wagged their tails.
This pack is everything now. I said happily.
suddenly the ground shook and I lost my balance, the earth opened beneath me. I had
failed to save the pack.
as I fell down I looked into the eyes of Velvet and Diamonds eyes. they were shouting,
but I couldnt hear a thing, I was only thinking not listening.
as I fell I decided everything was over . . . forever. I closed my eyes, why worry?
everything was over . . . forever.
ran over and over in my head.
I woke up hearing my name being called frantically.
Sparkle, Sparkle. please no! Mothers voice.
I couldnt talk, my side burned. I found myself in a ditch. the earthquake had made.

Jerk shut up. Velvet snapped.
I wanted to scream out, but I couldnt.
suddenly I felt sudden warmness filling my heart, the last thing I saw was a wolf in
golden armor, a male staring at me, he glowed. I wondered if the other wolves saw. she
cast a light on me and disappeared.
I shook off, feeling fine like nothing happened. what was going on? I was probaly the
most confused wolf in the world!
I was so excited that I ran up the ditch and play jumped over Velvet.
she jumped.
Wholly! she barked.
I ran around her, tail tucked in playing mode.
What the wolf brains are you doing? mother asked laughing.
everyone in the pack laughed.
How-how are you alive? Leader snapped.
Why would you care? I asked shocked by his words.
Because I still want to be leader. he said.
well, I stuttered.
I was confused. I thought you liked me, I thought we were friends.

You wanted me to be leader. I said.

NO, never. he growled.
The pack started to circle me in protection.
well I think its too late and I thought we were friends. I said in a minor growl.
I'm leaving this hideous pack! and I will return with a magic wolf like you and destroy
you and your pack. be warned! he growled and charged me.
I jumped to the side and scratched his flank. I knew how to fight, but I never really had
Oh you! he spat.
He lunged again at my flank and I flipped him over with my paw.
You. I teased.
Youre a-a-a I dont know. he snarled.
he lunged, I lunged, he dodged me and grazed my flank, leaving a heavy wound. I
whimpered and fell.
As the armored wolf healed me again, I tried to speak.
Dont speak. he said and disappeared once again.
I shook the thought out and chased Leader away.
I stood growling, watching him fade away.
He sure is a good actor. Mother snarled.
Yeah but hes a horrible fighter. Diamond laughed.
We all laughed. I gathered the pack together and we slept in a big wolf pile, warm and
happy. My magic warming the whole pack up.
As the sun arose I figured it was probably best to keep moving to confuse the dark
magic.
Diamond! I called her over.
What? she asked happily.
I shook sleep off and sat.
We have to keep moving. if we do, the dark magic will get awfully confused. I said.
Yes! autumn woods here we come. she said running in circles then falling onto me
laughing. I giggle and watched her run to Velvet and jump ontop of her and mother,
laughing still.
these times were happy, and I would have to savor them for we would be moving
around for forever. and some memories would fade, farther and farther away.
my heart shook a little, as my memory of home shattered through me. I shrugged it off
and strolled off for dinner, the pack didnt need me for everything.
its like the world was falling apart, wait it is falling apart, no it is falling apart . . . no.
ugh.I'm falling apart I said to mother as she walked over.
It is, but you have to believe. she said giving me a nuggy.
Diamond, Velvet and I led the pack away, to a safer place.
Ya know . . . I started.
No I dont know until you tell me. Diamond joked.
that was so obvious. Velvet said rolling her eyes sarcastic.
I laughed.
It just seems like I'm falling apart. I said.
Youre not falling apart, but I know youre worrying about your magic. girl chill. trust me
this life might seem horrible with the magic and all, but with friends and moms

everything is in one piece, whether you doubt it or not. Diamond said looking into my
eyes.
Okay, youre right and ill buck up. I said adding proud to my walk.
the two wolves laughed.
No not like that, Diamond means, dont worry be happy. Velvet said
Alright I will, ill try not to worry about this magic and what not, just keep my memories
and keep moving with an enthusiastic wagg. I said wagging my tail proudly.
the two laughed harder.
the sun fell over the hills casting a beautiful orange and pink glow across the woods we
were entering.
Yes! just in time, here we are. autumn woods. Diamond said, stopping the pack and
letting them sniff around.
Whoa! plenty food and the colors of the leaves are beautiful! I said watching a fat
squirrel run across the path.
Yeah. seems like these places are alive with magic. Velvet said looking about amazed.
Diamond flinched a little and turned.
Lets go. she said, almost sternly.
The moon came up and we were staying in a small plains surrounded my woods. as I
walked up the mountain to have a look-see just incase, when I found Diamond sitting
alone at the top.
Hey you okay Diamond? I asked sitting next to her.
she sighed.
really, are you? I was getting a little worried.
I'm fine. she said softly.
Well why are you alone, Velvet was looking for you. I said.
She was? oops. she said, finally sitting up right.
well want to come down for elk? theres only a little left, but plenty for you. I said, tail
wagging assuringly.
I'm actually not all that hungry. Diamond said.
Well umm, then I'm not either. you arent happy so I'm not happy. I said bravely.
okay fine ill tell you whats wrong, she started.
I sat in front of her. she sighed.
You know how Velvet said the places I take you and your pack felt magic.
Yeah . . . I said looking at her confused, she couldnt be magical.
Well, they are. my mother was a magical wolf like you. wherever she traveled she left
magic, so the place would stay beautiful, and before she . . . left me. . . she showed me
the places and put the memories in my mind. she was a black magic, so the evil black
magic can only give a small earthquake, in this case. she said almost glowing with the
story.
Wow you needed to vent that out huh? I said now understanding, but a little
concerned.
Youre special. I said.
Really? she asked wagging her tail harder.
And you have always been. I said.
I know I am quite something sometimes. she laughed.
hey, thats a good thing because I'm a little out of my mind. I wagged my tail.

We laughed and found our sleeping places, piled up all warm and snuggly.
youre black magic is only one little thing you have with you. the armored wolf said.
I am a black magic? I asked gasping.
You are a black magic Sparkle and black magic is the most powerful magic in the
world. he said.
is that good or bad news? I asked worriedly.
It can be both, you know well how to control it, but it will over ride you sometimes. all
you have to do is believe. he said.
everyone says that, I guess life is believing in yourself. I said.
Yes and you do a wonderful job, so I highly doubt youd fail. he said looking at me
sternly
F-fail? I gulped, I didnt want to know what that meant, but I think I new.
dont worry, just dont use it for greedy things. he said circling me.
I would never I'm a leader. I said shaking my head, following his circling.
Good. he huffed.
What else can I do? I changed the conversation, fearing hearing the worst.
Everything. he said.
everything, what does that mean? I asked almost choking on tears of joy but tears of
fear.
Anything and everything, I must go now. you know. he said and disappeared.
as soon as the dream ended I awoke, it seemed as real as anything, and everything . . .
what I dream. I said getting up and shaking off.
yeah who the wolf brains were you talking to. Velvet asked walking over to me.
I was embarrassed now, great I sleep talked.
I dont even know. I said hungry now.
me and Velvet were the first to breakfast. my hunting group had brought down three elk
in less than a half an hour. bravery, thats definitely my pack!
Thanks you guys rock. I said wagging my tail at the hunters.
you too Sparkle, leader. they said and went back to wake up the rest for breakfast.
Anyway, so what was the dream anyway. she asked.
Well, id rather not talk about it. but I can say two things, it was so real and I think I
might be a black magic. I said worriedly.
What? Velvet asked stopping in her tracks.
yeah . . . I said.
wowee, thats new. what can you do, ya know with your black magic? she asked.
Hey, slow down I dont even know if that was real, it was while I was snoozing so it
must have been a dream. I said.
so what, did you know what you could do in this dream of yours? she asked even
more sarcastically.
Anything and everything. I said quickly.
No away! Velvet said her tail wagging furiously.
Dont get too pumped remember it was a dream. I said.
Yeah, right, okay. she said with a sigh.
GUYS! Diamond said running out form behind them.
What? is something wrong? I asked tensing at her tone.
Yes, very. she said.

What? I asked.
Follow me! she said.
The three of us bolted through the bushes to the meadow where there were no pack
members to be seen.
Where is everybody?! I asked nervously, nearly full panic
I-I dont know. Diamond said sniffling tears.
Mother? Velvet asked.
as we looked around a hunter in our pack ran out of the bushes.
Found everyone. he said wagging his tail happily.
Are they coming? do they need saving? I asked trying to look behind him.
he kept on blocking me, what was his issue?
No no Sparkle I'm sorry but youre going to have to go to the corner of the trees over
there and close your eyes. he said sternly.
Uhh why? I'm leader. I said.
I know. he said.
Yall said it was urgent! Diamond! I said looking grouchily at Diamond.
Uhh . . . she said looking away from me.
Please, leader? he pleaded.
I growled and did what he said. after a while bushes rustled.
Open up. I heard Velvet say joyfully.
huh? I said and turned around.
There it was, a whole set of armor. made of diamond and iron.
whered you get it? I asked, sniffing it cautiously.
When the human race lived they made robot wolves, giving them armor made out of
bulletproof stuff. and wait, its even got wing holes. the hunter said.
Wow how could I ever thank this pack, this pack is everything to me! I said.
the pack howled in joy.
why does it have wing holes? I asked.
Just incase of your magic. Velvet said.
Cool, let me try something, everyone stand back. I said.
they hid in the bushes, watching me closely.
As I sat I gathered my spirit, as I did, breathing closely and deeply, my sparkles lifted off
my fur, circling me in a string of golden light and sparkles. As it circled me I grew wings,
glowing black wings, huge and I flapped them blowing a breeze across my fur.
Wow . . . I breathed.
I didnt even bother to look at the others.
I tried to lift off the ground, and I did. I flew like a bird. but stealthier, quieter, and
beautifuller. a brave magical leader and warrior. this was the best life ever!
I soared over the trees, the pack howling a happy howl to me as I flew low high.
twisting,turning, skimming ponds.
as I flew down all the wolves leapt with happiness. when the crowd died down and
conversed between each other, I walked up to Diamond, Velvet, and mother.
Youre a phenomenon! Diamond said nudging me happily.
I know. I laughed.
Youre more our best friend,leader, and happiness. Velvet said.
our heart. mother cleared up.

Youre my everything. I said.

they wagged their tails.
I now had everything I ever dreamed of. my mother, my friends, my bravery, my magic,
my pack, my happy life. . .
