YWCA/YMCA:

is a movement of women working for social and


economic change around the world. It advocates for young womens leadership,
peace, justice, human rights and sustainable development, both on a grassroots
and global scale. It is the largest womens organization in the world, and the
second oldest organization of its kind, second only to the Relief Society The
organization is currently based in Geneva, Switzerland.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored


People (NAACP):
is an African-American civil rights organization formed in 1909 by Moorfield
Storey, Mary White Ovington and W. E. B. Du Bois. Its mission is "to ensure the

with tradition, uses the once common term colored people.

The NAACP bestows the annual Image Awards for achievement in the arts and
entertainment, and the annual Spingarn Medals for outstanding positive
achievement of any kind, on deserving Black Americans. It has its headquarters
in Baltimore, Maryland.

Oxfam:

International PEN: is a worldwide association of writers, founded in


London in 1921 to promote friendship and intellectual co-operation among
writers everywhere. The association has autonomous International PEN centers
in over 100 countries.
Other goals included: to emphasize the role of literature in the development of
mutual understanding and world culture; to fight for freedom of expression; and
to act as a powerful voice on behalf of writers harassed, imprisoned and
sometimes killed for their views.
