Year Level: Year 6/7

Students Prior Knowledge:


This lesson will be the fifth content lesson of the touch
rugby program. Students will have previously practiced
and developed understanding of all major touch rugby
skills and practiced these skills in game like scenarios.
Students will also have developed a sense of game play
and experienced playing the positions on the touch rugby
field. This lesson will focus on revising developed skills
and progression of touchdown skill to score in game
scenarios. Students will also participate in a modified
game in preparation for the round robin competition in
week 6.

The objective of this drill is to revise
previously learnt skills of passing and
passing on the move. These skills will
be consolidated and students are
provided the opportunity to practice
sprint running onto a ball and returning
the ball like in a game scenario.

Bridging organization

Instruct students to move markers from current position to form two grids 15x15m

Students will move back into their bib and non-bibs teams and move into separate grids

Teacher is to identify 2 opposite markers as the starting points and students are to line up behind these
markers, balls are to be moved to the attacking line and be rotated through play

One marker is the attacking side and one the defending side

Teacher is also to set a marker in the center of the playing area

An explanation and demonstration of the warm up game will then follow

Skill Practice- Tricky Touchdowns


Objective of this drill is for students to
enter the playing area and evade the
defender. Students are to practice
dodging, weaving and sprinting out of
