The main objective of the present research is to develop a new cost effective as well as
green technique for producing coatings/claddings of metal-based materials using a nonconventional source of energy (microwave) which offer variety of advantages while
compared to the conventional processes.
To improve the mechanical and metallurgical properties of the most used engineering
material in industries.
The microwave clads showed good metallurgical bonding with substrate by partial
mutual diffusion of elements.
The wear resistance of microwave processed clad has been increased by almost 220 times
of mild steel at 1.5 Kg and 1.5 m/s.
The microwave cladding has been successfully carried out on 900 W at 2.45 GHz at 360
seconds on domestic microwave oven.
