The suggestions below will help you to fulfil any warranty obligations and to enjoy this product for many yers

• Do not attempt to open the unil.Non-expert handing of the unit may damage il.

• When using regulaed power supply, take notice of power voltage must be between 6V and 8V toavoid

damaging the unl.

Do not store the Radio under the sunshine or in hot areas. High temperatures can shorten the life of electror

devices, and warp or melt certain plastics.

• Do not store the Radio in dusty,dirty areas

• Keep the RadiO dry.Ralnwater or damp will corrode electronic circuits.

• If it appears that the Radio diffuses peculiar smell or smoke. please shut off its power immediately and take charger or battery in the Radio. then contact with BAOFENG agency.

Insert the base of the attached antenna into SMA connector and coincided with each

other by clockwise rotate antenna, make sure the anlnna has set down .Take out the antnna from the base by counter clockwise rotation until pullout it from SMA connector.

Turn on and off the power

If you want to turn on the power,rotate PWRNOL knob by clockwise until beep sound is

heard.AII icons and frequencies appeared on the screen.(Due to have automatic squelch function,the speaker will not send out any sound before receiving call.)You can adjust your desired volume by turning the the button.lf you turn off the power, turn PWRNOL knob in counter clockwise rotation until beep sound is heard.AII displays will disappear and the radio is off.

Adjusting volume

After turning on the power,(Due to have automatic squelch function, the speaker will not send out any sound before receiving call.)you can hold down [MONI]key, and then turn PWRIVOL knob to increase the volume in clockwise rotaion and decrease the volume in counter clockwise rotation

Monitoring function

If only hold down [MONI]key and adjust your desired volume by PWRIVOL knob, you can directly hear sound without waiting for receiving any signals.

Transmitting

Firstly,hold down [MONlla moment to make sure that the channel Isn't In busying status

and press[PTT]key then speak to the radio in ordinary tone

Transmitting indicator lighting during holding down[PTT]key.

If you are too close to the microphone or your voice Is too loud.it's not clear in recelvin; Release[PTTJkey so as to listen a response from your partner.

Emergency Alarm

Hold down[MONIJkey for 1 second and press[CALLJkey the radio will emergency alarm. Call to receiver

Press and hold the[CALL]key for 2 seconds.The receiver will ring. Notice:This function could work under CTCSS/DCS mode. Keypad Lock

In channel/Frequency mode, press and hold down.for two seconds

the keypad will Lock.Press and hold down afar two seconds to unlock the keypad. Setting Reverse Frequency Function [ L8[H? l In channel/Frequency mode,to select Reverse frequency function, hold down. for two seconds until"R"appears on LCD. The TX

frequency and RX frequency reversed.To cancel it hold down. ( UNLO[I( ":J

Scanning [ • l

Scanning is applicable to monitor your need frequency without T - -~

manual.

Scan entire channel

In channel/Frequency status,press _and. key the radio will scan from ourrent channel through all the channels.whenever any activity is detected,the radio will suspend the scan for 5 seconds.lt will then continue to scan unless you press PIT key or'-key to end scanning.

Priority channel scan

ln Frequency Mode,Press _and,. the radio will scan from current frequency through all the frequency range within 1 MHz,whenever any activity is deyected,the radio will suspend the scan for 5 seconds.lt will then continue to scan unless you press PIT key orCm!key to end scanning.

In channel mode. Press _and" the radio will scan from current channel through all the channels,whenever any activity is detected,the radio will suspend the scan for 5 seconds.lt will then continue to scan unless you press TPP key or. key to end scanning Select scan type

In fequency mode pressGlli!i) until dlsply"SCAN13"and press'_.Turn encoder to select.TO/CO/SE

TO:Time-operated scan

After radio lock In a busy channel for a period(the time Is set by dealer)the radio will begin scanning other channels even If the channel is stil busy.

CO:Carrier-operated scan

Radio will lock in one busy channel until there is no activity,and then radio begins sanning other channel

SE:Search scan

Radio will lock in one busy channel all the time until you turn the encoder

Select Mode

Hold down "and turn on the power,the radio can switch between channel and Frequency mode.

In Frequency mode,press _ key to switch between.Frequency mode and"CHANNEL tFREQUENCY"(VFO)mode.

And you can turn the encoder to select any CTCSS/DCS.] press dIIm until display ADD OS, then press., until display "HIGE or LOW" ,"'tIi'e'ri'"'press dIIm until display "WIDE or NARROW", press., to confirm and enter ;;exrchannel setting (this channel store is ok). Close the power, then turn on the power can work this channel.

Delete

Close the power, hold down [MENU] and turn on the power until display "SELF?" ,then press dIIm until display "CH-001", turn the encoder to select channel number of deTel'e."'press mmD until display the frequency for the delete channel, then press" untrl"display "-----,, ,press ., to confirm and enter next channel. Close the power, then turn on the power can delete this channel.

Select VOX sensitiving level

In channel/Frequency mode,press "and .. "VOX OFF"displays, ( IIOX OF F '] turn the encoder to select the sensitity level,then press..,

Press _key to exit"VOX OFF"set in default factory state.

Setting transmit power

In channel/Frequency mode,hold down _'and • Turn the enCOder[ untll"POWH"appears,it means high power and it two times than low

programming software. Setting squelch

In channel/Frequency mode,hold down _ and .. turn the

encoder then press _'.Press _ to exit. "SQLS"set in default

factory state.

Backlight on/off

TO turn backlight on. Hold down_and • turn the encoder to select from ON,OFF AUTO and press" Press_to exit Select backlight color

Beep on/off

To turn Beep on.hold down_and. turn the encoder to select one color then press "Press _to exit.

Automatic Numbering Identification(ANI)on/off(BF-718PLUS Only) To show caller ID on display while the caller press PTT switch. Hold down _and • "ON"display,to close ANI please turn the encoder until"OFF"displays, then press" Press_ to exit.

Plus/Minus differebce between TX frequency and RX frequency In frequency mode,press _+ ,. turn encoder to select S-D 0 (same),S-D+(plus),S-S-(minus)

( 5-o, Select difference between rx frequency and RX frequency

This functtion Is used to determine the difference between transmitting frequency and receiving frequency. Press_' key and encoder until "DIFFR?"displays,press tDlkey and Input needed frequency Range from 00.000 to 70.995MHz, then press "key to confirm.

Select frequency stepping

PressBkey and turn the encoder untll"STEP?"diSPlays,press8)keYi[ and turn the encoder to select frequency stepping from Sk 10k,6.25k . 12.Sk,25k;then press "to confirm.press B to exit.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
